Clinton at Fair: Work and Wonder Bar (Two Bagger Alert)

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton observed a time-honored ritual Wednesday - a visit to the Iowa State Fair where she flipped pork patties, admired the cow carved from butter and sampled food on a stick.

Candidates of both parties have flocked to the fair this week as they courted voters in this leadoff caucus state. Iowa is Clinton's weakest state - she either is tied with rivals John Edwards and Barack Obama or trails in polls - and she spent nearly three hours under sweltering summer heat touring and shaking hands.

"I'm a senator from New York, I've gone to the New York fair every year, and people kept saying, 'You know, you've got to come to the very best fair, and that's the Iowa fair," she told a crowd to cheers. "So that's what I'm here for, and I'm going to do my own investigation. I'm going to eat my way across the fair."

And eat she did.

The former first lady munched on a Wonder Bar - vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate and nuts and perched, like most fair food, on a stick. At the Applehus stand, she sampled a bowl of caramel apples; at a novelty shop, she was given a SpongeBob doll by the obviously starstruck proprietor.

SNIP

At the dairy building, she nodded solemnly at the life-sized butter cow, one of the fair's best known attractions. Vilsack pointed out the butter sculpture of Harry Potter next to the cow and noted that he'd finished all seven Harry Potter books.

Clinton's final stop was at the pork producer's building, where she flipped pork chops and patties over a sizzling hot grill.

It's worth noting that the only people quoted in the article are--surprise-Hillary supporters. Amazingly, Her Heinous wandered the Iowa State Fair and not a nary unkind word was said about her or toward her. What are the odds of that?

Hillary was cooking pork chops????? who knew. I thought she rejected all things domestic. oh well.

She said she would eat her way across the fair? Isn’t she encouraging obesity by example? I thought liberals were so concerned about obesity. And rule #1 is not to eat if you’re not hungry. Was she really hungry as she ate her way through?

Hillary admiring a cow made of butter . . . Yes, that seems like an environment ripe for jokes.

Maybe it’s just me, but I have a hard time picturing Hillary at an event like a state fair, or around the farm animals, or cooking up those pork chops. I think she would look out of place.

...not a nary unkind word was said about her or toward her.

In days past, this kind of affront would trigger an IRS audit, at a minimum. Perhaps the good folks of Iowa are too wise to risk the wrath of Hillary.

Sorta like Lurch, when he showed up at the Minnesota State Fair in 2004. He blew in, bought a corndog at the stand right next to the AFL-CIO building, smiled, waved.......and he was gone....

L’dMAO!!!

There may well be an intimidation factor when people encounter Hillary.

Did you know that Hillary is so famous that she is one of a handful of people who can go by one name? She’s in the exclusive company of people like Jesus, Elvis, Mohammed, Madonna, and Liberace.

Attention, O impious impertinent upstart of a photographer.

You have committed a cardinal offense.

You have photographed Queen Hillary, Her Thighness, She Who Must be Obeyed BELOW THE WAIST!!

Grievious shall be your punishment, you recalcitrant peon!

Some other “one name” wonders which resemble her highness......Hitler, Stalin, Castro.....

If I paid the price of admission to the Iowa State Fair and saw Hitlary Rotten Clinton there giving speeches, I’d head back to the gate and demand my admission money back!
