(BEIJING) - Waste water dumped by factories into a river in southwest China has poisoned and killed about 40,000 kg (88,180 lb) of fish, media said on Tuesday.
Eighty government officials went door to door in Chongan town, Guizhou province, to warn villagers not to eat, sell or transport the fish, state radio and news portal www.sina.com.cn reported.
Dead fish were found floating on a 5-km (3-mile) stretch of the murky and foul-smelling river on August 10, the media said, adding it would take another four to five days to clear them away.
Officials blamed the deaths on upstream factories dumping excessive levels of fluorine, phosphate and arsenium into the river, the media reports said......
Last month the nation's top environmental protection official warned public anger with worsening pollution was fuelling increasing protests. He also criticized local governments for turning a blind eye to factories transforming rivers into "sticky glue."

Look for the Red Lobster all you can eat special next week !!!
Sushi prices are coming down. Bon apetite.
That's no joke. According to a friend of mine who has set up shrimp farming operations all over the far east, Red Lobster takes a huge amount of Chinese Communist farm raised shrimp, and from farm operators in other Asiatic, basket case states. All you can eat, indeed, until your liver and your kidneys explode! It most certainly makes Red Lobster look like a real sleazeball outfit. Those bastards know where the stuff they buy is coming from and what it was fed, as in melamine or raw sewage [for the catfish], or whatever. Pretty soon the only way you'll be able to eat positively clean fish will be to have your own bass pond.
Bwaaa hahah. You’re killin’ me Jack.
Regards
Don’t eat the purple fish sticks!
Oh boy!...send more farm raised salmon from China!
MAKE YOUR TIME.
THEY SET US UP THE BOUILLABAISSE.
THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH ARE BELONG TO US.
(UNGHHHHHH)
Fresh fish to be shipped to USA. In a supermarket close to you. Coming soon.
Aquaculture, for its virtues, still has genetic and a few epidemiological issues to work out. The intent was to depressurize wild stocks, which, itself, is noble. Give a few generations of it, unchecked, and G-d only knows what can result.
There’s no way that’s going to waste, it will end up in the USA as something!
LOL, China seems to be drowning in its own toxic waste. I guess they can’t sell it to our grocery chains fast enough.
You are so right. That is why I will pay double in NC for local oysters, crab, shrimp and tuna.
