My advice is, don’t try to work around it.

Go through appropriate management channels to see if you can get access. If they still say no, let it go...unless you want to risk your job, which doesn’t seem to me to be a risk worth taking — unless you’ve got a really crappy job.

If you have a good job, however, get a phone or other device that does the web — like blackberry — and surf on your breaks and during lunch.

But believe me, your computer use is under constant surveillance at work, and they’ll know if you’re doing something you shouldn’t.

I just found out that you are female. I try to keep my off color comments to men only. Guess it's because I am old and that's the way I have always been.
