Gingrich 'sickened' with Bush, Congress ("young Americans..massacred by illegal immigrants)
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | Aug. 14, 2007 | EUNICE MOSCOSO

Posted on 08/14/2007 3:45:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

on vacation "while young Americans in our cities are massacred" by illegal immigrants.

Gingrich, who is considering a run for the White House, was referring to a recent crime in Newark, N.J., where three college students were murdered execution style in a school playground.

One of the suspects -- Jose Lachira Carranza -- is an illegal immigrant from Peru who was on bail on charges of raping a child when the murders occurred.

Gingrich said another suspect is an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua with a long record of arrests who was ordered deported in 1993 but never left.

However, The (Newark) Star Ledger reported Tuesday that the man -- Rodolfo Godinez -- obtained permanent legal residency in 2001.

The Newark Police Department did not return requests for comment.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"The federal government's incompetence, timidity and uncoordinated efforts to identify and deport criminal illegal aliens have had devastating consequences for innocent Americans," Gingrich said, in a newsletter.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"As an American, I am sickened that the political leadership of America could continue to go on vacation and do nothing," he said. "Why are the August vacations for the president and the Congress more precious than the lives of young Americans who are being killed because of government incompetence and inaction."

Gingrich said that President Bush should call Congress back into special session for three days to pass a bill in honor of the slain students.

The measure should order the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security to outsource the development of an identification system to check the legal status of felons and have it up and running by Jan. 1, 2008, he said.

In addition, it should withdraw federal aid from any city, county or state that refuses to participate in checking the legal status of arrested felons, Gingrich said.

Authorities say six people, including four juveniles, were involved in the Aug. 4 murders of Terrance Aeriel, 18; Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20, according to news reports. A fourth victim, 19-year-old Natasha Aeriel, survived after being shot in the head.

Three of the six suspects are in custody, including Carranza, who turned himself into authorities. Three are at large.

Police have said that robbery was the motive for the killings.

Newt can say whatever he wants, but nobody has to listen. I read the guy's book, and was impressed with him as a Congressional leader, but he really really needs to figure out that the biggest domestic enemies of American values aren't the President and his people--he would do better to fire his rhetoric at the Democrat party operatives and their apparatchiks in the LameStream Media.

I would rather us fix our immigration system now and those that stood idly by and did nothing when they could have passed legislation, like Newt, choose their words better when attacking others over it or STFU. It would also be nice if Newt spent as much time attacking democrats on issues but he can’t because that would interfere with his growing relationships with Kerry and the Clintons.

It wasn’t a national issue then. Now, if you tell me you petitioned the Speaker to do just this at that time, then your criticism would have some teeth.

If not, you’re no better than the man you castigate.

"Illegal alien accused of raping a child is out on bail, but US Border Agents Ramos & Compean are in jail while their cases are appealed in the courts."

That is THE most important sentence in all these posts!!! IMO!

Anybody else in Congress back then who could have done something and didn’t? Who even complained about illegals back then?

I joined FR the first time in 2002 and one of my first posts was about illegal aliens. My account was banned in a heartbeat. Talking about it has been taboo for many years.

You’ll not convince me that anybody in Congress would have had the cajones to go against the PC horde to start the process of enforcing immigration laws. It’s like pulling teeth even now to get them to do something constructive about it.

I voted for GW four times so I go back a long time supporting him ,but Newt is absolutely right on this one. Now it has not been but a month ago that all the Dems and GW were trying to push the shamnasty bill and we just barely got the damn thing killed. Does any one really believe Newt could have done a damn thing about it in the 90s. That is just plain silly guys, He was getting hammered by the press and the Dems everyday, he had almost 100% bad press. Did we have an immigration problem? Hell yes! Was any major politician saying a whole lot? No! Newt is guilty of a lot of things, and deserves plenty of criticism on a lot of things but this ain’t one.

Did Newt ever take a vaction when he controlled the House and NEVER passed immigration overhaul legisaltion?

I remember begging a high operative of the Republican Party after the 1994 GOP landslide to do something about immigration. I was told that Prop 187 showed that would be poison (with future Hispanic voters) and that Congress wasn't going to touch it.

Gingrich was Speaker of the House. He had a solidly conservative majority. He could have passed or even attempted to pass legislation to overhaul our immigration system or build a fence along the border. He did neither. He sat back and watched illegals continue to come over and commit crimes against Americans and did nothing on his watch. He failed and has not earned the right to attack others over immigration. Read his votes from the link on post #35 and see for yourself why he was rated a “D” for handling immigration.

[.. I am sickened with Newt Gingrich. I guess that makes us even. HE spends more time attacking the right than the left. Newt you are a DISGRACE. ..]

WRONG.. Newt is a blessing.. Saying what needs to be said.. Disgraceful in the LACK of meaningful discourse..

Fred Thompson looks like a president and probably can act like one but not mean enough .. Hunter is not vicious enough either .. ONLY Newt is mean enough and vicious enough to save America from Mexicans, Muzzies, and domestic Socialists.. and the drug cartels running Mexico, Europe and Canada..

And just what was that solid conservative majority’s opinion of the illegal alien problem?

Exactly right. And on FR it was almost always the 'party uber alles' types who will not tolerate a critical word about their favorite politician that slung the first handful of dung.

Glad they've finally lost some currency around here.

Obviously it was not a problem they felt they needed to address. Your question would be better served directed to Newt. It was his House that failed to act under his direction and he now feels necessary to attack others for things he allowed to occur himself. Hypocritical and disgraceful.

[.. See post #112. Newt is a disgrace. ..]

If Newt is a disgrace George Bush is a traitor..

Newt Gingrich is the ONLY ONE with any answers for America..

The democrats have none, the republican candidates have none, Carl Rove has none and YOU have none..

I will admit Newt or ANYBODY cannot shake some sense into America.. But Newt is at least talking sense..

Might take a NUKE to shake America.. probably will.. sad to say..
American women mostly have been twinklized with democrat Corrupt-Dust..
They are high as kites snorting the dust of Universal Health Care..
NO republican has a chance in 2008..

Newt and Fred and Duncan will have to wait for 2012..
