Gingrich 'sickened' with Bush, Congress ("young Americans..massacred by illegal immigrants)
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | Aug. 14, 2007 | EUNICE MOSCOSO

Posted on 08/14/2007 3:45:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

on vacation "while young Americans in our cities are massacred" by illegal immigrants.

Gingrich, who is considering a run for the White House, was referring to a recent crime in Newark, N.J., where three college students were murdered execution style in a school playground.

One of the suspects -- Jose Lachira Carranza -- is an illegal immigrant from Peru who was on bail on charges of raping a child when the murders occurred.

Gingrich said another suspect is an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua with a long record of arrests who was ordered deported in 1993 but never left.

However, The (Newark) Star Ledger reported Tuesday that the man -- Rodolfo Godinez -- obtained permanent legal residency in 2001.

The Newark Police Department did not return requests for comment.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"The federal government's incompetence, timidity and uncoordinated efforts to identify and deport criminal illegal aliens have had devastating consequences for innocent Americans," Gingrich said, in a newsletter.

Gingrich said that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "even more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"As an American, I am sickened that the political leadership of America could continue to go on vacation and do nothing," he said. "Why are the August vacations for the president and the Congress more precious than the lives of young Americans who are being killed because of government incompetence and inaction."

Gingrich said that President Bush should call Congress back into special session for three days to pass a bill in honor of the slain students.

The measure should order the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security to outsource the development of an identification system to check the legal status of felons and have it up and running by Jan. 1, 2008, he said.

In addition, it should withdraw federal aid from any city, county or state that refuses to participate in checking the legal status of arrested felons, Gingrich said.

Authorities say six people, including four juveniles, were involved in the Aug. 4 murders of Terrance Aeriel, 18; Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20, according to news reports. A fourth victim, 19-year-old Natasha Aeriel, survived after being shot in the head.

Three of the six suspects are in custody, including Carranza, who turned himself into authorities. Three are at large.

Police have said that robbery was the motive for the killings.

As speaker of the House he could have introduced any legislation to overhaul our immgration system for the better and/or build a fence between Mexico and the US but with a solidly conservative majority, where it would have passed, he chose not to. It was not a problem he wanted to deal with.

You want to give Newt a pass, feel free to. I will not and it appears other freepers will not either.

Example: Newt could have installed an alarm system in a house where he lived to stop it from being burglarized but chose not to. When a new tenant moved in and the house was burglarized, Newt would have no right to condemn the new tenant for not protecting his property better, when he did not either.

Ah, the 11th Commandment...everybody seems to have forgotten that one. But Newt looks out for Newt. He’s a “media whore” and the media loves putting him on because they can get him to criticize other Republicans.

So now we’re off to rental properties, renters, insurance and individual polices. LMAO, is this your idea of proving Newt was wrong? If so, for a collegiate, you’d make a great forth grader.

The fact is that Mr. Bush has done nothing, when he is the chief executive and is charged with enforcing the laws on the books. Does the fact that Gingrich has done nothing either somehow mitigate Mr. Bush's lack of action?

Truth is truth even when pointed out by a hypocrite.

I love Newt, but election to the office is a personality/looks contest and Newt loses that.

While I’m no real fan of Gingrich I still must give him a high-five on his latest remarks. He is dead on the mark on the issue as he has outlined it here.

"Mr. Bush"

That is President Bush. You must be an avid viewer of CNN because they like to denigrate his office too.

“.....criminal illegal aliens....”

Much the way that “comprehensive immigration reform” became equated with “amnesty”, this is fast becoming the descriptive used by those who would choose to distinguish ‘good’ from ‘bad’ illegal aliens for the purpose of giving the ‘good’ illegal aliens “aspirations of citizenship”/amnesty.

Mr. Gingrich, what part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?

NO COMPROMISE, NO AMNESTY!!

Believe what you wish were true, I don’t mind. To my way of thinking it’s rather clownish to enter a thread and totally ignore it’s topic.

By the way, that “classless clown” insult was incredibly original. Why am I not surprised.

Say, do you even know what this thread is about.

BTW, I engage you on Newt on a thread where he’s the focus. Here illegal immigration is. Sorry if that shock is upsetting to you.

BTW, look around child of God that likes to throw insults around easily (real Christian of ya), quite a few freepers on this thread are not too happy with Gingrich either.

Just wow...

quite a few freepers on this thread are not too happy with Gingrich either.

What difference would it make if the whole forum wasn't happy with him? Would that change the validity of his statements on this topic?

Answer that and you'll have found knowledge grasshopper.

I don’t care who says it or why they haven’t said it sooner... it needs to be said. LOUDLY.

His statement has some truth in it but coming from him it is hypocritical. By you ignoring that fact intentionally, shows your character.

"Answer that and you'll have found knowledge grasshopper"

Sunday Christian, you are no one I want to learn knowledge from.

And urm...if its so damn inportant to him (aside from selling his books) - how come he did next to nothing to change the situation while he could?

God knows if it were something I felt that strongly about - I wouldn’t let it go for one damn day. Sort of like what he does now.

I used to ‘sort of’ like this guy - but all I hear from him now is constant snipes at republicans.

Who made this guy spokesman for conservatives or the GOP?

Nobody.

Would you rather he not change his mind and speak out against it? I’d think we’d need all the voices we could get.
