The balloon and soap bubble nonsense aside, why is it that adults think that children love clowns? I hated clowns growing up, so did my wife, and both of my children wanted nothing to do with them from even the earliest ages. I've spoken to quite a number of people who don't like clowns or who's children don't like them, and yet they keep pushing them at us.
It's a conspiracy, I say! ;-)
(Actually, I have been able to tolerate the clowns we see sometimes in Cirque de Soliel, but I think it's because they are more "Old World" in their costumes. I know...I'm just strange.)

BAN CLOWNS, I say. Along with, swings, electric trains, wgons — and don’t forget hop scotch, checkers, marbles, and tiddly winks and other killer games.

I never like them either - I considered them weird and creepy, even when I was a kid. Same goes for circuses. I never had the slightest inclination to go to one. It always seemed to me like some strange, alien relic from the 1800's. Even carnivals make my skin crawl, what with all the weirdos manning the booths and rides and all.
