Hmmm....can't wait to see that happen. Bwahahah!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That makes two of us and millions more!

BTW, nice job on the Duncan Hunter live thread. I hope someone in Fox News starts talking about Duncan's virtues, and exposing him to the public. Methinks the RNC has the word out not to annoint Hunter......yet.

Smoke and mirrors, and political behide the scenes maneuvering now going on. I wonder who Rove will get behind? I hope its Duncan!

Rove did great.

And I'm grateful for him.

Do you think the November ‘06 election would have been any different if GWB had gotten rid of Rumsfeld BEFORE the election instead of the day AFTER the election??

I’ll put it this way. Never would Rove have been in my circle if I were president.

Now as a private citizen, he can tell Congress that he really does have contempt for them. I think the public will side with him on that.

I believe Rove and Bush deliberately engineered at least some of the 06 defeats in order to give Bush a "congress he could work with" --to shove amnesty down our unwilling throats...

Rove worked for the President. I am not sure either one of them cared all that much about the GOP.

During Katrina, Rove was hospitalized with a kidney stone...he was not in TX with W. Andy Card was also not there, vacationing in the NE. I often wonder if Karl were not hospitalized at the time of Katrina if things would have turned out better for W. Maybe he would have gone to NO sooner or maybe he would have cancelled his trip to San Diego out of deference to the disaster.

I look forward to Rove's book and will be in line to buy it. Hope he does a book tour so I can get a signed copy.

Rove resignation = too little, too late.

I think Rove was unequivocally a positive for the GOP. His strategies helped revive the GOP after the Clinton years, and moved the party forward. That being said, I think it IS his time to go, if not permanently, then at least for a while. He needs to take some time, and think, and invent new stuff. Right now, his gung-fu not so good anymore. I don’t believe that he was responsible for the 06 debacle, but I think he’s lost some of his touch. Perhaps some time away from the game could help him regain that. He’s been right in the middle of it all for years now. He’s still a very formidable opponent, just tired.

POsitive for 200 and 2004 but a negative since Plamegate. A negative for the 2008 election campaign is now gone. The Rats can rattle their sabres all they want but the fact is Rove is gone. No bogeyman left. Bush isn’t running. Nor is Cheney. Clearing the decks for some new blood is good. Hopefully the stupid party has smartened up a little.

“Do you think the November ‘06 election would have been any different if GWB had gotten rid of Rumsfeld BEFORE the election instead of the day AFTER the election??”

IMHO, no. The Pubbies losing the election was not about Iraq. It was the scandals (Foley, Allen, Abramoff) that broke late that made the difference.

My two kroons...

>>Unless, seriously, it was his responsibility to have a Republican internal audit group whose charter would be to PROACTIVELY avoid such debacles.

Not a bad idea. The Pubbies that are dishonest do us great damage when magnified by the MSM.

>> I think it is a good idea, for the exact reason you mention. We beat the Libs every time on every issue in the battle of ideas. They can’t beat our message, only our messengers, when they fail to deliver the message.

In the case of Rove, you are probably correct.
Michelle Malkin also stated as much a couple of days ago on ‘The Factor’ hosted by BS-Bill O’Reilly

“What about being the architect of the Republican debacle of November ‘06???”

First of all, you are attaching too much blame to Rove for our losses.

Secondly, it should only be a temporary setback. The Democratic congresses are governing like buffoons. They are so far to the left that if we can’t win back the majority and win the presidency, we sure as hell can’t blame that on Rove.

Thirdly, 06 elections happened, it’s done, it’s time to get over it and get serious about the next elections. Learn the lessons but we need to quit dwelling on the past. We need candidates of good character, unimpeachable types. It’s hard to win running tainted candidates.

And last, history will be kind to both Rove and Bush.
