To members of Free Republic and friends, I would like to introduce a candidate for President of the United States and the current congressman from the 52nd district of California, Duncan Hunter!! To Americans who value the patriotism and missions of our Armed Forces, to those who want to put fear into the hearts of our adversaries from Beijing to Tehran, to those who value the rule of law when it comes to illegal immigration, to those who realize that the unborn deserve full legal protection beginning at conception, to those who believe Peace through Strength is far more than a motto, to those who do not like giving communist China unfettered access to our markets while they cheat at every turn, to those who want to halt and reverse losses of US sovereignty to global entities, and to those who want the GOP to return to Reaganism, Mr. Hunter is the Best choice.
Congressman Hunter currently is the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee, after spending the previous 4 years as its chair. He is an original co-sponsor of the Fair Tax bill and he is the author of the Secure Borders bill, signed by President Bush in 2006, which mandates 800+ miles of double fence across the smuggling corridors of the SW. He also is the man who has led the fight against NAFTA’s Mexican truckers having free reign on our roads, has forced congressional oversight of the executive branch’s ‘Security and Prosperity Partnership’ with Canada and Mexico, and was instrumental in saving our military intelligence officers from having to jump through bureaucratic hoops unrelated to combat.
A Vietnam combat Veteran himself, he currently has a son in the Marine Corps, Capt. Duncan Duane Hunter who is busy hunting jihadis in Afghanistan after two tours in Iraq. Congressman Hunter has been the anti-dote to the liberals in Congress doing their damndest to cut and run from the battlefield. Mr. Hunter knows that this war is our generation’s calling, and “the only way we can leave is to WIN”.
Below are 15 questions we compiled last month on Free Republic, which we sent to Congressman Hunter a few weeks ago. They are followed by his answers. This is the springboard we will use to kick off Mr. Hunter’s live “virtual press conference” on FR today.

Also, what is the status of Congressional hearings into any potential DHS and Justice malfeasance in this matter?
Many of us support you and want to get the word out better but don’t know how to do it the best.
With so many people on the internet, it’s important to keep content fresh and up to date. Is there anything that your supporters can do to help your team promote you better?

This has been my position throughout my career and will be strongly emphasized in my Presidency. I will continue to make that known and continue to solicit co-sponsors in my legislation that establishes legal recognition of the unborn at conception.”

I have a question to propose to you about Affirmative Action laws.
As written in the Declaration of Independence, it states that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, ...”
Affirmative Action laws applied in the United States, in my words, state that employers and places of education must choose an under-qualified minority person over an otherwise qualified person. This is in direct conflict with our Declaration.
I would like to know your opinion on this, and what you would possibly do to challenge the legality of it.

The problem with the media’s interpretation of the events in Iraq is that their reports tend to devolve into justifications for their personal political positions which are generally left-winged. A reporter at a bar in Baghdad can select practically any anecdotal circumstance he wants to make a “factual conclusion”. In recent weeks, even liberal observers have acknowledged that the Marines have turned around the situation in Anbar Province where the population has joined them to resist Al-Quaeda. However, if you ask the average American if he has seen evidence of this shift on American television, the answer is no.

The biggest bone I can see most conservatives picking with you is your record on fiscal discipline. I understand that you have been a bit of a spender as measured by watchdog groups. Not having personally reviewed all of your votes over the recent decades, I can’t corroborate their assertions. What can you say in defense of your fiscal conservatism that we can use in response to the naysayers?
What plans do you have to garner that support among the general public who ask, "Duncan Who?"?
Among those is my own brother who is normally a fairly politically savvy person. If he hasn't heard of you I think that you really need a plan to get your name, face, and views in front of the general public.

Here is an issue I have not heard addressed by any candidate: college education costs seem to be suffering from the same sort of artificial inflation that medical costs are, due to government involvement in footing the bill. Have you considered any solution to this situation?
Duncan Hunter, how can all political correctness finally be eliminated for everybody for always? Political correctness is screwing up all issues all over the world! We all truly need full commonsense instead of full political correctness to exist on all of the issues!
Congressman Hunter I am behind you 100%. We need a man like you in the white house. My biggest fear for the US is communist china and an authoritarian russia. They both wish us ill will and mean to do our great nation harm.
By the way, we’re already planning Free Republic’s Duncan Hunter Inaugural Ball I in Washington, DC. We held inaugural balls for President Bush and Gov Huckabee and his band performed at both. It’s said that they were the best inaugural Balls in town. Know you will be busy that night, but hope you get a chance to stop by and say howdy.
Rep. Hunter, it has been made clear the abuse of our Mexican border. However, as a resident of western New York, I would like to ask your opinion on the Canadian border. Amicable trade and transportation between the United States and Canada has been occurring with very few problems for many years; however, recent proposals from the Department of Homeland Security have threatened to complicate and jeopardize that relationship, which is, in my eyes, much closer due to cultural similarities that we share with Canada and not so with Mexico and Latin America. How would you view and treat Canada in a Hunter presidency?
