In the coming months, our national attention will be shifting from political pork to political crow. Democrats have put themselves in a position where they will be eating a lot of it, as it now appears there is a chance of victory in Iraq. All those on the left who have been advocating surrender will have pie on their face or crow on their plates.
Major cracks are starting to appear in the ranks of Democrats. A few of the more politically astute are starting to stray off the reservation, eschewing the lockstep Democrat talking points and positioning themselves for the worst. The worst being victory in Iraq.
It all started with that darn editorial in the New York Times. The NYT is the equivalent of the bible on the left, pretty much in charge of alerting liberal Democrats how to think on any given subject. The seers at the Times opined that maybe, just maybe, the surge in Iraq might be, gasp, working.
Though reports of good news have been trickling out of Iraq for a few months, they were pretty much discounted by leading libs as 'propaganda.' Then along comes the Times editorial which illuminates and validates the fact that, gee, maybe it's remotely possible that America might be making headway against fanatics determined to see us burn in hell.
If the New York Times prints it, then it must be so. Thus begins a reality realignment for the few Democrats capable of thinking independently of the party bosses. The 'non-deniers', if you will.

It’s funny to see Hillary dance back and forth on this issue. Trying to please the moon bat left and the not quite as batty left.
They’ll do the same thing they did after the fall of the Soviet Union; they’ll pretend they were on board all along.
Of course, you know that they will do EVERYTHING they can to help the enemy defeat us.

I truly don't know why ANYONE believes anything this Circus Congress says about Iraq. A 3% approval rating is as good as a zero.
I’ll never forget Clyborns (spelling) comment to the effect that winning in Iraq would be ‘bad for democrats’.
Unbelievable, but it sums up the Democratic Party perfectly.
They’ve been on the ‘wrong side’ since our Civil War, and its remarkable how consistently they’ve remained on the wrong side for the last century and a half.
I’m already enjoying it. There were quite a few unhappy dems calling CSPAN the other day when they hosted Iowa Dem & Rep chairs. I believe one lifer actually switched over to Huckabee. Probably wouldn’t be much of a switch to some of us, but for him it had to be drastic.

I hope it works out that way, but I fear it won’t. The Brits are getting ready to leave Basra. They’ve already ceased most patrolling in that city & things are spinning out of control. Our extra ‘Surge Brigades’, the one’s that are presently allowing us to extend our reach in Baghdad & Anbar, might have to be shifted to Basra. At that point the Surge is over. There really aren’t any more units to send.
Either the Brits change their minds about departing, or the Iraqi Army had better be ready to step-up.
If you will recall, none other than Hillary! Rodham (Clinton) herself was calling for a troop surge, way back in December...
Pelosi will eat crow more than the rest of them. I always felt that the Democrats put her in that office because they were afraid of failure. They are just using her and she doesn’t even know it.

There’s still time to seize defeat from the jaws of victory. The NYTimes and their TV allies could stage a surge. They could assign additional “reporters” and spin-meisters to the Iraq beat — and use them to armies of bloggers to isolate and eradicate any remaining pockets of truth. Once the perception of impending defeat is shored up; it’s just a matter of pulling troops out in time to avoid an embarrassing victory.

I think they already given it their best shot...over 5 years of advocating surrender. Maybe, just maybe, they’ve seen the impact this had had on their credibility
