Karl Rove, a political adviser to President George W. Bush and a lightning rod for anger among Democrats, will leave the White House at the end of this month, Rove told the Wall Street Journal.
"I just think it's time," Rove said in an interview with the newspaper published on Monday.
"There's always something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here, I've got to do this for the sake of my family."
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Fox News broke in at 2:06am PDT to announce that Rove would be leaving.
I was wondering which GOP candidate for president offered Karl Rove a boat load of money to join his campaign?
I wonder if it’s Mit? After all, he has a personal fortune of $500 million, so he could easily make Karl an offer he couldn’t refuse (although I prefer Fred).

How long before DU and Daily Kuz claims they have defeated him and take “credit” for his retirement?
Rove is going to spend time with his family in Texas. I think he's burned out with politics.
Sorry, but I don't think I'm buying it. What's he going to do, take up knitting? Rebuild an old Studebaker? Breed chinchillas?
Rove might not take a high-profile role, but wherever he is, he'll have a phone, fax and e-mail. He could be a Grand Old Man consultant without a formal job title. My guess is that he'll take a role with the RNCC, and won't back a presidential candidate until there's a nominee. But that's just a guess, and I could be wrong.
They already are...take a look over there, if you have the stomach for it. Funny, HuffandBlow is clueless so far.
My thoughts too. Either this is fallout from Amnesty, or he's preparing to join a candidate for 2008. We'll know soon enough.
Plus, his bank account is probably getting a bit low. Executive branch officials are bound to the GS schedule and are limited in what private investments they are allowed to maintain because of ethics rules. They just don’t make that much (legally) when serving as a government official, believe it or not, and Karl’s been at it for 7 years.
I think in a polite way, GWB got an earful from the 10 talk show host that visited him last week.
He probably knew way before hand what they would say, they could not be that deaf at 1600 Penn Ave. to what was being said at the height of the debate.
But GWB should do something to really drive them nuts over at the Kos and DU..
Hire Newt !!!!
Just in time for the Cheney 2008 campaign.
