psst, dont tell people their is a radioactive device in their smoke alarms. Yeah, that might frighten them. A smoke detector typically has about 1 µCi of Am-241. This would read 200,000 counts on a typical frisker. This is high enough that it could saturate the electronics on your frisker if you started on a low scale giving a off the scale reading temporarily even on the highest scale. If you aren't trained in the peculiarities of your frisker you might be surprised with this. As it is, if you started on the 10^3 counts low scale, you would have to bring your frisker up to the 10^6 counts high scale. Of course, these are just the numbers for the old friskers that I used. The new digital friskers might not have any problem.

The reporter on the video clip is TOTALLY confusing. At the end the girl said the radiation level was normal . What the hell did she mean , normal for what ? What caused them to check radiation levels at a fender bender. What a confused non story this is .
