Popular with voters in Hazleton, Louis Barletta eyes campaign against Democratic Congressman:
Hazleton, Pa., Mayor Louis Barletta, whose visibility is unusually high because of his campaign against undocumented workers and their families says he will decide by January whether to run for Congress in 2008. "I'm giving it serious consideration," said Mr. Barletta, a Republican. "I like being mayor, but everybody knows I've been disappointed by Washington's inaction on immigration reform."

People are so upset by conress’s inaction on controlling the Illegal Invasion, that I think there may be a lot of new faces after the election. If “all politics is local”, then a lot of these politicians who choose to ignore the problems their constituents are facing due to Illegals, may be in for a rude awakening. Too bad these jerks will retire high on the hog with benefits we paid for.
Put the Dem’s on Defensive in a Democratic Leaning PA district?

This would be a rematch, as Barletta ran unsuccessfully in 2002. However, Barletta would start the race far better-known than he started the last one.

Being that the district is largely white and more socially conservative than, say, the Philly suburbs, Mayor Lou is in a very good position to take this.
I hope he runs and I hope he wins.
I think the current anti-Kanjorski ad that spells out the family kickbacks is pretty effective in giving him the boot. But that’s just me. :/
Naaaaaaah... no bias there. /s

When running for relection, Mr. Barletta was the nominee of both the Reps and Dems.
Mayor Barletta is a hero and a great American! I don’t live in Pennsylvania, but if I did, he’d have my vote in a heartbeat!
