Dems hit Sheehan candidacy (Cindy a 'threat to embarrass the speaker') CAPTION TIME!

Dems hit Sheehan candidacy

A local Democratic Club has criticized the decision by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

"If you continue with this threat to embarrass the speaker, it is very possible that the voters will turn against the Democratic leadership in Congress and return the Republicans to the majority," stated a letter written by J. Paton Marshall, corresponding secretary for the Robert F. Kennedy Democratic Club.

"If that happens, all investigations will cease and justice for Bush and Cheney will be impossible," the letter stated.

The club endorsed and then published the letter in its August newsletter, said John Smith, club president.

Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in 2004, announced her candidacy Thursday.

"The country is ripe for a change," said Sheehan, who spoke at a podium with her son's photograph attached to it. "It's going to start right here and right now."

Sheehan said she would run on a platform of universal health care. She also wants to make college affordable and improve ethics in the legislative and executive branches.

Smith on Friday compared Sheehan's candidacy and attacks by progressives on other Democrats to a circular firing squad.

"We can't sit here and shoot at ourselves," Smith said. "We are not the obstruction. Even though (Sheehan) wants impeachment, it's not going to happen. It takes two-thirds of the Senate."

Instead of attacking other Democrats, progressives should be attacking Republicans who have blocked efforts to pull American forces out of Iraq, Smith said.

In addition, you can go to your local Democratic congressional member and ask how you can help them, Smith said.

“The scary thing is, this district may be just nutty enough to elect her.”

Scary to whom? Nancy?

My knees get weak just salivating over the opportunity. Cindy as a Jr. Rep. vs. Nancy would be a good thing.

And if she looses - so what ... Nancy will have been so busy - no time for mischief in the house for a while. ;-)

Please, time to quit preaching to the choir, most Freepers are well aware of the import of their votes and certainly can recognize mistakes and learn from them.
Being a Nanny must be tiresome for you and definitely for for Freepers, IMO. I agree, it is time to focus on the future.

***Welcome. Now saggy can address his/her/its inane, boring clever (????) remarks to you for a while.***

SIGH. Thanks! I just discovered that it’s true what people say: No good deed ever goes unpunished. LOL!

If Congress’s approval numbers are any indication, Pelosi and Dingie Harry have done a good job of embarrassing the Democratic Party themselves. Lets hope they continue to do so!!!

Again we are reminded of the fact that we did this to ourselves. Yes there were GOPers who were shiite heads and a few crooks, but the holier than thou ash holes who ‘just couldn’t vote for a Republican because a Republican Congressman in Florida was light in the loafers’ and Duke Cunningham was a crook, brought us here with their childish over reaction. So here we sit. We have American aliens, born in America but not OF America casually talking about carrying out a coupe like they have in some south American dung heap. To all those who stayed home or voted rat: take a real close look at what you brought us to.

You are absolutely right and it is important that we don't forget the lesson of 2006. The republicans are conducting a "political competition" but the democrats are conducting a "political civil war".

There is no uniting behind the people's choice after the election for the democrats. Ever since Clinton instituted year round campaigning they have destroyed the unity of the country. The democrats are not running a political campaign, they are running an insurrection.

It might pay you to read the thread before you go shooting off your mouth. It started with these -- none of which were posted by me:

Your line is getting a little old. Time to give it a rest. Post # 15

It’s counter productive but if you and others want to wallow in the past be my guest. For the record, I held my nose and voted for my congressman. He was whipped like a cur though. Corruption allegations did it and were in fact accurate. Still, the shift in congress was a normal off year election result for the party in the White House. Given the rate at which the Democrat party is self destructing we can look forward to a resurgence in ‘08. Look to the future, not the past. Post # 38

Screw you, smartmouth. It is people like you, who can't even keep straight who says what, who are the ones who get tiresome and boring. So, get off my back, and keep your juvenile insults to yourself.

We need to donate $25.00 each to Cindy Sheehan so she can embarrass Pelosi!! I never thought I would hear myself saying this about Cindy Sheehan who abandoned her son and then used his death for her own political launch pad—Go Cindy!

Good! Keep voting for Democraps with (R) next to their names and see what you get for a Party! You’re the kind a person that would vote for Hillary Clinton (R). Pathetic!

“Lacking money to prosecute a real campaign, she will fizzle into a footnote.”

Unless you count all the $’s that she may receive from gullible freepers. She has a proven track record of grandly announce crusades and events, like her fast and her latest “march”. All lies and damned lies.

You can bet that this is just another scam like her scam for Katrina victims. She’ll be raking in the bucks and building a new deck/recroom on her new house up in Contra Costa County, and/or buying a new vehicle, and ofcourse she’ll want another “fact finding” trip to Europe and another Hiwaiian vacation. That RV she travels in is getting a bid ripe too I’ll bet. Even if it’s rented each trip that’s still alot of moolah.

Doesn’t she have to file some sort of financial papers when running as a candidate? Have those actually been filed?

Thank you!

I was thinking she was just after the camera’s and a few goodies ala $400 haircuts, new cars and vacations.....

But I think your local friend is right. Just like her “goodbye attention whore” retirement letter. Remember the one when she “had lost everything” and was “Going home to be a mother to her remaining children”.

Does anyone know if she has actually filed the official campaign paper?

She got a nice fat financial bump from that and is looking for another one.

take a real close look at what you brought us to.

Aside from your atrocious sentence construction, your logic is flawed.

Perhaps if the RNC wasn't hell bent on shoving RINOs down the throats of the Republican base a couple more of those close elections may have gone our way.

We should rebuild the grassroots conservative movement. From the Reagan Revolution of 1980 through the Contract with America in 1994, it was this movement from outside Washington that carried us to the first center-right majority governing coalition in more than 60 years.

The problem has not been with conservatism or with our voters.

The problem has been with Republican leaders who forgot who elected them and what values their supporters expected to see implemented in Washington.
