BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - There are so many negative vibes around "Cavemen" that at least one TV critic is taking bets that it won't even get on the air.
The ABC series based on Geico insurance commercials has gone beyond being just another stupid sitcom.
Questions are being raised about whether the Cro-Magnon characters will reinforce racial stereotypes.

I do NOT understand why this would be an insult to blacks!
Have they given these guys color???
Barney & Fred must be turning over in their graves.
The Government Employees Insurance Company, usually known by the acronym GEICO, is an American auto insurance company. GEICO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway and, as of 2006, provided coverage for more than 10 million motor cars, trucks and other motor vehicles owned by more than 7 million policy holders. GEICO writes private passenger automobile insurance in the District of Columbia and in all U.S. states except Massachusetts.
If that tickles your funny bone, Las Vegas has a show called Defending the Caveman
Please tell us more...
Then again, what about those two cavemen evidently sharing an apartment? I thought they were brothers but maybe not? Hmmmm.
“A black man on the news last night said the proposed caveman show is racist and an insult to blacks.”
Someone has a very low opinion of himself. Part of the problem with that culture.
“Bullseye! You earn the Insight of the Day award.”
Amen. You nailed it.
I really liked the Caveman Lawyer skit in SNL. I’m just a simple caveman lawyer, and (fill in the blank) frightens me! I don’t know why, but I always found that funny.
Isn't that the point of the Geico commercials?
Maybe they should've tried "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer"
I’m guessing that the gay cavemen stopped reproducing at some point and Darwined themselves. I’m also guessing that gender reassignment surgery performed using stone knives and bearskins wasn’t pleasant.
Yeah, should’ve realized that this would’ve been mentioned early on. That’s what I get for not reading the whole thread first!
“A black man on the news last night said the proposed caveman show
is racist and an insult to blacks.”
To quote the rather-white caveman in the commercial with the talking-head
lady with her psycho-babble comment:
“Uh, What?”
Anybody that thinks the GEICO caveman concept is racist and insults
blacks has real dangerous powers of imagination and a boatload of
paranoia.
Well, maybe the guy has a point. I’ve yet to see the GEICO cavemen do
a drive-by shooting, so maybe the insult is that the GEICO CAVEMEN
are shown as being more cultured that some of our gang-banging fellow citizens.
Suddenly there's a bunch of bad jokes swimming in my head .... all involving the words "homo erectus" . . .
“The real problem with this series (and the ad campaign it’s based
upon) is that it mocks liberalism.”
Yep.
That early commercial in which the GEICO pitch-man has to mollify
the offended cavemen with a sitdown at a swanky restaurant was classic.
The one caveman that turned down a meal was a masterpiece portrait
of the ever-offended passive-aggressive jerk that will NEVER be
satisfied, no matter how much people try to make things right.
LOL--funny you should say that. I have thought that the commercial mocks neurotic urban Jewish guys...Like most sitcoms!
I had wanted to see the series--. Maybe the pilot will make it into "DVD Only".
it does sorta doesn't it.....it sure lifts that tried and true schtick
i love the commercials
what will happen and is precisely what the race baiters want....is that the show will be stifled into going pc
Finally off the beach eh ?.........:o)
Glad yer back WD !
Hate Inc is offended by everything that doesn’t give them a cut of the pie. Sharpton / Jackson should fall under the RICO Act IMHO..........criminal race baitin POS losers.
