You know this is an ignorant analysis when they think Rudy is the most likely Republican nominee. They also pay attention to generic polls. They also ignore the fact the conservatives prevented the passage of the immigration bill.

I mostly posted this to see what comments it generates.

The Democrats are moving to the left not just on health care
-
the rest of the world won’t like that because where else are they going to go for the best health care?

[Bush is] the most conservative president in recent history

If by "recent history" the author means since Reagan left office (18 1/2 years ago), he'd be right. But of course that time period would include only two other Presidents -- his father and Bill Clinton. Being more conservative than those two isn't exactly a trick.

Any time you see a piece entitled, “Is [fill in the blank]?”, it’s a good bet the real meaning is “We fervently hope [fill in the blank]”.

The Ecconomist has been getting it wrong due to their wishful thinking as to be hardly worth reading.

The leftists always do stories about how the right is dying. Of course when the left is not doing so well, they just do stories about how the right starves children.

Many of [Bush's] worst errors were championed by conservative constituencies. Some of the arrogance in foreign policy stems from the armchair warriors of neoconservatism;

Only the left cares about "arrogance" in foreign policy. And that because they identify themselves more as citizens of the world than Americans. Bush has run American foreign policy in the best interest of America, and the left hates that.

As for Bush's poll numbers, and the numbers on Iraq, those are down because Bush attempted immigration reform, and because we're not winning in Iraq. But with the immigration fight over, and things looking up in Iraq, that won't last long. America is not a leftist country and will never be.

A few years ago I considered subscribing to Economist. I took a couple of issues to read at Borders to read. i dropped the idea of subscription. Not for ideological reasons, though. About 40% of the magazine is a common info that could be found anywhere. Most of the rest seems to be written by people w/o particular insights or insider info and full of kitchen-table banalities.

It isn’t that America has made some conscience ideological “choice” to move to the left, but rather that the “left” has captured the minds of the malcontents whose only concern is to secure a free life.

They also made the infamous “standard of living” chart with America WAAAAAYYYYY down on the list, and claiming we have a lower GDP than we actually do.

Judging by all the calls I see for "government solutions" to healthcare and education as being the most "popular issues" among Americans, I would say yes. The same can be said for social issues (gay rights, the environment).

The funny thing is, the same folks who call for more services are the same people whining about property taxes. Obviously, many of my fellow citizens can't put 2 and 2 together.

“the ill-fated attempt to “save” the life of the brain-dead Terri Schiavo was driven by the Christian right. “

A wood-chipper is too good for this author.

There’s no way to tell the true political majority of the US because only about half the population votes.

During his presidency, the words Katrina, Rumsfeld, Abramoff, Guantánamo and Libby have become shorthand for incompetence, cronyism or extremism

Damn, almost all the liberal buzzwords (which the msm created), but they left out Enron and Haliburton from the early days.

I often taunt leftists with “What is the color of the sky in your universe?” because it seems for all intents & purposes that they are working from an alternate reality (heavy on the alternate).

Whatever point the author had hoped to make, he lost all credibility (for all but idiots) by his editorial excess.

The funny thing (to me) is that Dhimmis aren’t blissful in their ignorance - they are absolutely miserable! Even when they ‘win’ they lose!

This is a clue to separate the wheat from the chaff: For the social moderates if you want to engage in queerness, drugs, porn and other life destroying choices go ahead. That is called freedom.

But don’t force your lifestyle choice onto me. Don’t compel me to pay for your one abortion after another while you “find yourself”. Don’t use crooked judges to validate your immoral choices. Don’t blame me when you find yourself dying in your fifties of life style related disease. Don’t compel me to pay for the hospitalization for your choices. Relish in your freedom of choice but accept responsibility and the consequences for your poor choices.

That my friends is the difference between the so-called moderate republicans and social conservatives. As a social conservative I’m not going to force you to become a heterosexual or go to church. Rather it is you, the moderate forcing your choices onto me.
