Here's a story of scientific investigation and discovery I'm proud to have had a small part in. Regular readers may remember that I posted about a climate station in Detroit Lakes MN last week, surveyed by volunteer Don Kostuch, and cross posted it to the website http://www.climateaudit.org/?p=1828#comments that had two air conditioner units right next to it. It looked like an obvious cause and effect because in 1999 on May 5th, it was determined that the a/c units were moved off the roof of the radio station where this station resides and moved them to the ground where the temperature sensor is close by...

NASA has to correct their study

No suprise from an Agency that sent a gazillion dollar probe crashing into Mars because they didn't convert metric calculations.

What global warming advocates have to prove is that its humans fault and that its dangerous.

What if global warming is dangerous but not human’s fault? Everyone agrees it is occurring.

Top 10 GISS U.S. Temperature deviation (deg C) in New Order 8/7/2007

Year Old New
1934 1.23 1.25
1998 1.24 1.23
1921 1.12 1.15
2006 1.23 1.13
1931 1.08 1.08
1999 0.94 0.93
1953 0.91 0.90
1990 0.88 0.87
1938 0.85 0.86
1939 0.84 0.85

Here’s the old order of top 10 yearly temperatures.

Year Old New
1998 1.24 1.23
1934 1.23 1.25
2006 1.23 1.13
1921 1.12 1.15
1931 1.08 1.08
1999 0.94 0.93
1953 0.91 0.90
2001 0.90 0.76
1990 0.88 0.87
1938 0.85 0.86

Note the years with the biggest error adjustment in the top 10 - 2006 and 2001 are the two most recent years in the top ten. 2006 goes from tied for second to fourth, but instead of being bunched near the top, it is middle of the pack. 2001 falls out of the top ten altogether, and is now altogether unremarkable in terms of temperature.

This is hugh!

I also find it ... remarkable... that the biggest errors have occured as the global warming hysteria have been ramping up. It is almost as if somebody were intentionally fudging the data in order to support a political position. But we all know that could never, ever happen.

Perhaps it should be year instead of ear. But I will let the reader decide.

It demonstrates that if the quality control for temperature sensors in the US is suspect, then the quality control for temperature sensors in Bangladesh, Albania, and China might also be suspect.

No question things are (slightly) warmer on average the last few decades.

That statement is no longer operative. That is why this is hugh. Really hugh.

Now it is clear that the last decade in particular, and the last few decades as well, are all cooler than the 1930s, a decade when industrial production of CO2 was at the lowest level for the industrial age. This is exactly the opposite effect that the global warming theorists would expect.

It appears that it may not be occurring at all.
