'Hundreds' cancel trips, homeowner threatens to move out
Telluride: Some of the ski fans who have patronized Telluride, Colo., now are calling the ritzy resort "the land of radical liberals" and canceling planned vacations there because the town board voted to approve an ordinance calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
One ski club of 175 people already has made plans to go elsewhere, another skier has threatened to sell his home there and another critic predicted the town soon would bow to Mecca.
"It's huge, unbelievable," said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. "Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) website is flooded with people saying they're canceling their vacations here."
The storm of protest followed the town board's recent vote on the impeachment issue, according to a report in the Denver Post.

Interestingly I was planning to go to Telluride on a skiing trip this winter with me and my two brothers, and our families. Eleven people in all. I called my brothers this AM and we are now going elsewhere!
You know, it is VERY difficult and expensive just to get to Telluride, much less stay in their hyper-priced lodgings. There are literally hundreds of venues with better skiing at better prices elsewhere.
I really don’t think they will go broke. They’ll probably be bigger than ever. No conservative should ever go there but most people aren’t conservative because most people just watch TV all day and have no Idea what’s going on around them.
I hope they do go broke but I doubt it.

How can you believe a city council that's trying to engage in national politics that it has no business being in, is making sure the streets and slopes are safe and up to code? How's the water and sewer systems doing? Are the police up to snuff? How about the fire department?
At least those liberals won’t have to worry about any more evil profit-making.

The denial of consequences for behavior and choices is CORE to "liberalism" - everything about their ideology centers around this core belief. Any consequences that DO occur, since all behaviors are equal and should have equal outcomes, MUST be due to discrimination. That's why gravity, weather, and economics are inherently discriminatory.
So, what you're saying is that the majority of the country is drifting left.

Thanks for the info. I just emailed the City of Telluride and told them we will not be going their again. We spend both summer and winter vacations in Colorado. We have already had to mark off Bolder on our visit no more cities, and Santa Fe, NM, and now the hip-hop city of Telluride. Colorado Springs still remains CONSERVATIVE, but a bit further from the slopes, but we will find places without an agenda!!!

Go to Salt Lake City. Fairly conservative and you can stay in the city and drive up to a variety of ski resorts like Park City, Deer Valley, Alta, Snowbird, etc. Nice airport access. You could also try Big Sky country of Montana, although it is harder to get there.
Open and accepting to all but conservatives.

Park City and environs are real treasures. Easy access, family oriented, excellent value, and great skiing.
No, not the majority. The Midwest, the Intermountain west including much of NV, NM, and AZ, the corn belt, many of the Southern states, and at least some of the Midatlantic (mostly the more Southern states, plus the rural areas of Ohio and Penn) are quite conservative. Rural areas of California and Washington are as well. It’s just that libs tend to gather at the economic sinks, rather than the fonts. Cities and vacation spots tend to have more money flowing into them than out of them, and so they wind up with a surplus of other peoples’ money to play with. Their habit of congregating in those areas tends to swamp the native conservatism, and they get themselves ensconced in local government, and eventually state-level government. Then you end up with places like Mass, which used to be the core of anti-tyranny in the nation, and the home of some of the greatest patriots our country has ever known, now a socialist nightmare with ridiculous taxes, outrageous costs of living, exclusionary regulations locking off large swaths of land from even foot access, feel-good laws that damage living standards and the business climate, and so much more.
