Any guesses as to the class syllabus? This is Connecticut, remember....

this is a pathetic sign of our times. think about this and if the unhinged left gets further into the management of this country......and go buy yourself a few guns.

The City of Torrington wants to teach homeowners how to protect themselves and secure their property. I would rather Smith & Wesson protect me than some class by the City of Torrington.

Here's my version of an old quote:

I’m all for prevention, but must say, if one is on my property uninvited, the Glock will already be fired and they will be dead before I check i.d. My husband excluded of course. :-)

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority but I think this is a good idea. I’ve been LEO and a Certified Residential Appraiser, I can’t tell you the number of houses I appraised that were totally unsecured. The home owners had no idea and noplace to get the info. Now they do, at least in this town.

45 Auto, Remington 12ga, 45 70 lever action for bears and more but I ain’t telling the intruders. 911 is the last action.

The City of Torrington wants to teach homeowners how to protect themselves and secure their property. My vote is for a Winchester Pump 12 gage shotgun.
After all it is the thought that counts. I am not sure if Connecticut is one the states that requires you to retreat or not. If so, there is nothing like standing behind a door (and to the side) and cycling a pump action shotgun to gain the attention of someone on the other side of the door.

Dial 911 when the perp has completely stopped bleeding, and kicking around on the floor.
We have a saying in our house, -
"Dial 911 and DIE". Of course it's for people who would dial 911 first. :-)

Will weapons be included? It's doubtful, this being CN, a liberal, northeastern corridor, Nanny/Police-state wannabe. They'll probably say, buy a dog, an alarm system, etc., but leave the guns to the professionals (meaning them, never mind that MANY civilians, are MUCH better trained and informed on firearms and their proper use than MANY cops).
The arrogance and elitist attitudes are bad enough, but telling people they should call 911 and wait for help when the sh*t hits the fan, can get good people KILLED.
A personal ARMED response is the ONLY correct answer for those that force their way into your home with ill intent.

Its hard to beat a 100 pound dog coupled with a large caliber firearm.
I love strangers that ask “Does your dog bight?”.
He’ll bite if I tell him to or if I’m not here, why else would I have a 100 pound dog?

I live in a very very rural area and drive a school bus. On one of my long winding dirt roads is a farm. On the gate that goes in the drive way attached to a barbedwire fence is a very large sign that says “Anyone who goes past this lines WILL BE SHOT”.
Kids are sweet as pie, but they get alot of ribbing about their dad’s idea of thinking some loser will mess with a little house in the middle of nowwhere.

Get a Glock? Alternative method: get a Sig! Or if you are an old burned-out Marine, a Colt 1911 will do in a pinch.

I can’t cut and paste your whole message.
Anything bigger than a 45 Auto will tear out your eardrums. 45-70 is only for a Bear in the house.

Dogs! Yep! Meth lab operators have been using them for YEARS to keep people away! My deputy buddy on an SRT a couple of counties over tells me that most SRTs have a suppressed, scoped .22RF for the sole purpose of shooting out street lights, and killing dogs just prior to a raid on a lab.
We've had a discussion recently about dogs, and think that small yappy dogs are good. We've got a mixture really. We have three Rat Terriers, one Jack Russell, and a Doberman.
Two of the Rats sleep outside at night. One Rat sleeps inside. I've (half!) joked recently that she wakes up if a mouse farts! She DOES catch mice in the house in the winter! The Jack Russell barks at his backside, so we ignore him. But if the other Rat Terriers outside jump in, we start to take notice. If the Doberman barks, "something" is probably there, and if the indoor Rat Terrier barks, we're grabbing weapons. She's always right about something being amiss outside!
Of course, the doggies are only part of a plan. Two people in this house are responsible for making sure nobody gets in on their end of the house. One of them has an Armalite A-2/AR-15, the other has an SKS. My wife and I make sure nobody gets in on the other end of the house. She's got another Armalite A-2, and I've got an FAL. Everybody (of course!) has lots, and LOTS of ammo preloaded into magazines, and all weapons have lights and "dot" sights because SEEING your sights in the dark is IMPORTANT. Everybody also has personal comm gear (FRS/GMRS) radio in case we go outside and have a look around. We raise dairy goats, and rustlers and thieves ARE a REALITY here.
Anyway...dogs are great. A couple of people who have just "shown up" lately have noted that our Doberman (who is fairly new here) isn't very friendly, to which we explain that she isn't SUPPOSED to be! ;-)
