Where politics and politicians are concerned, I believe that cynicism should always be the order of the day. Politics is the world of the possible, not the best possible world.
The way I see it, whoever runs against Hillary Clinton deserves to win. So far as I'm concerned, those Republicans who threaten to stay home on Election Day in 2008 if their personal favorite isn't the nominee, just so they can self-righteously claim they didn't violate their principles, are beneath contempt. Cutting off your nose to spite America is not commendable. It's my conviction that anyone who permits this country to be saddled with a left-wing Medusa surrenders all claims of moral superiority.
In short, I am not one of those people who would care to have engraved on his tombstone: Here Lies Burt Prelutsky Who Never Voted for the Lesser of Two Evils.

Do you really think either McCain or Paul is going to get the nomination? Really??!!
DH08 Why not get behind a candidate who is a *true* Conservative, not a lesser evil and knows how to deal with the Dims.
It really comes down to with the upper tier of candidates, is more of the same (CFR globalist) or a Dim (CFR globalist) in the WH.
I am an evangelical, and I ain’t staying home, nor did I last time. We have to get in on the nominating process, not just sit back, wait till “they” nominate someone we don’t prefer, and then stay home and pout at election time. Show up now and make noise; don’t wait.
No.
Simply an example of two I could not vote for.
Fortunately it looks very unlikely I’ll have to be tested...
Work in the primaries for the best candidate that you support. In Nov, vote R.
Rudy has said he will appoint conservative judges. No matter what any of them may believe about social issues, this election will be about the Supreme Court. If the libs get another ginsberg on there, Katie Bar the Door!
Sure... I've even heard some say it. But after hearing their rationale, I confined further conversation with them to... the weather.

I promised myself in 1992 that I will crawl through broken glass on election day to cast my vote, and I vote in every primary, every local race and every special election. If I do my job right, we'll get a conservative candidate...but even if the nominee is not my guy (HUNTER 08!), I will do everything I can, donate, campaign etc. to keep an R as Commander in Chief.
And he is absolutely correct. Every type of Indep, Libert, and Pub should vote in droves against Hil and BO. No Dem is worth ruining the nation over a social issue that Presidents can’t really change anyhow. And if a Pub Prez appoints jurists like Scalia, I feel safer for civil liberties than with some socialist like Tribe who Hil would appoint.
Will he control spending? As mayor of NYC when he had money he spent it.
I could go on. Ultimately the question is do I wish to fight a devil I know, or one I don’t.
Either way, it’s still fighting a devil.
He certainly is not my first choice (or my last - RP would be that on the pubbie side). I will work hard IN THE PRIMARY for Fred or Duncan, or someone more conservative. If by chance RG does become the next presidential choice for the pubbies, I will support him. We are seeing right now what a dim congress will do - fight against the WOT, raise taxes, etc. I will support pubbies, but fight against having any RINOs on the ticket DURING THE PRIMARY.
