SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Barry Bonds became the most prolific home-run hitter in Major League Baseball history Tuesday night, slugging his 756th in front of more than 43,052 hometown fans to pass Henry Aaron. Bonds' record-setting homer came in the fourth inning to give the Giants a 5-4 lead over the Washington Nationals. Bonds hit a 3-2 pitch from Washington's Mike Bacsik deep to center field. The game was delayed by a standing ovation for Bonds, whose late father Bobby was a Giants player, coach and front-office employee.... Bonds also holds the season record for home runs with 73 in 2001.

The 43-year-old Bonds, who has spent 21 years in the majors, had tied Aaron at 755 on Saturday in the Giants' 3-2 loss in San Diego. Aaron's record had stood since 1976, when he retired after 22 years in the majors.

Compare his size now to his size when he was a rookie. Most guys loss muscle tone as they age.

I can’t recall a time when a member of the Giant’s management was on the field to congratulate any player, Bonds or anyone else, for any accomplishment. So, what’s the point that is being made here?

“Uhh, try a little research my FRiend. The “accusations” are so simple he is looking at possible federal indictments. There are guys in JAIL for not admitting what they know about Bonds cheating. There are well reserched fair-minded books that show a lot more than “innuendo”. His record may actually have that asterisk placed next to it in Cooperstown. Give it time sir and allow the grand jury and history to answer your loaded questions. In the meantime I and many others who apparently know more about the facts than you have made our non-jury judgment. And shame on you for casting aspersions on other ballplayers who never invited the trouble and dishonor Bonds has earned.”

Has Bonds ever failed a drug test? I’m just asking because I don’t know the answer. Is there definite evidence other than hear-say?

Not one time in Bond’s career did he test positive for using any performance enhancing substances. If there were a positive test it would have been all over the media. But, no, not a single time.

Before I dismiss you as a fool, let me ask you one simple question: Do you believe Barry Bonds used steroids?

"Interisting, there was no member of the Giants on the field after the home run. Hmmmm."

If true, an amazing demonstration of "no confidence"..."no respect"..

“Who ever caught the ball sure will be a Rich person"

True.

I heard this ball will be worth about 2 Million.

What will each ball from the next home runs be worth?

like all the other “I Hate Barry Bonds Because He’s Barry Bonds” people...

Bonds was hated by fans and players alike long before any steroid controversy came his way. And the reason for that is that he's beem a rude, narcissistic, spoiled, first-class asshole throughout his entire career. Every bit of hostility coming his way is richly deserved. If he had the class of a Hank Aaron his detractors would be few.

No matter what, it is a tremendous achievement.

“Many of these drugs have been used safely by doctors for years.”

Ah...the just in case statement, for when it is finally proven for a certainty that he did indeed use steroids. Yeah, that will make A-okay.

Its not true, the entire team was on the field except for the bullpen. They stopped the game, there was a message from Hank Aaron on the Jumbotron and Willie Mays and the Bonds kids and wife were on the field as well.
You’ll see it ad nauseum on the MSM.

I don’t have any evidence which could prove or disprove whether Bonds used or didn’t use. Thus, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt until such time as someone presents evidence other than “I hate Barry” to prove or disprove the accusation. You don’t like my position on this? Tough. That’s my postion. I’ve seen people go from being skinny to muscle bound without the use of steroids, so do I believe Bonds could have? Yes, I believe he could have. Is that proof? No, it’s not. But, hey, put up or shut up. Either there is proof he used or there isn’t. Until it’s proven I’ll error on the side of caution. That’s my stand.

Players are not publicly identified for their first failed test per MLB policy. But he is under federal investigation for lying about steroid use, he had close associates who have admitted to giving him roids, etc.

So legally it is a not yet, professionally it isn't being disclosed. But taking all the evidence, from his body, performance (good and bad), testimony of suppliers, attitude of MLB and the commish, well-researched books, etc I have drawn what is a rather obvious conclusion. Others are free to do otherwise of course but they have their heads in the sand.

Yea, right … great logic. I don’t hate anyone, go for it. I will just let history take its course. As far as aspersions are concerned, I think they have already been tossed into the mix a long time ago. Yea, like I’m the first.

If, by any chance, I was still a baseball fan, and attended that game, and caught the homerun ball, I would have ran to the nearest sewage pipe and dropped it in. “C’mon everybody...the record setting ball is right down there. Have at it...finders keepers, losers weepers.”
