Rudy won't comment on daughter backing Obama
The Politico ^ | August 06, 2007 | Jonathan Martin

Posted on 08/06/2007 8:07:57 PM PDT by Josh Painter

In another reminder of Rudy's strained relationship with his children, Slate reports today that Caroline Giuliani, the former mayor's college freshman daughter, is supporting Obama's candidacy.

Asked about the disclosure on the campaign trail today in Clear Lake, Iowa, Giuliani dodged.

"I have great respect for her, and I’m really proud of her," Giuliani said. "And I don’t comment on children because I want to give them the maximum degree of privacy."

As sad, and perhaps politically harmful, as the continuing family saga is for Rudy, he's helped by the emergence of Fred Thompson's wife, Jeri.

As I wrote last week, "It reduces the glare on [Rudy's] own atraditional spouse situation, naturally, and makes it seem more distraction than problem."

The recent profiles in the Washington Post and Newsweek on Jeri Kehn Thompson drive that point home emphatically.

Ron Reagan, Jr. not exactly a chip-off-the-old-block either.
It’s a drag to see some family members eaten up with rotgut liberalism.

Hey Rudy, don't worry about your daughter, she will either grow up, or Obama will get BEHIND her, if you know what I mean...

There’s a lot wrong with this candidate to begin with. Having his daughter hate him is a such a red flag that I’m done with him. That means he’s out for good. I declare him a db.

It would be completely inappropriate for any candidate to make any comment on the political decisions of their children. My kids don’t see eye to eye with me politically. RG made the right call.

The MSM goes after the wives of Rudy and Fred. And now the candidates' kids. Classy.

For some reason you don't see these kinds of stories about the Dem candidates. Drive-by media strikes again.

Oh come on! What a cop out!
Don’t retreat from your position now—
do all people “grow up” to be mature, or do
some people grow out of the BS their parents/school/church
have fed them.

No cop out. For example, only [best estimates] 22% of our population are moonbats. Every liberal/socialist/democRAT that gets mugged finds an epiphany regarding the Second amendment. No, when the FDR/JFK liberals/socialists/non-thinkers die off, we will have a much better informed, less left leaning electorate. Believe it or not, it's happening now right before our very eyes.

I hope people do catch on—but the crap out there now,
the ‘new tolerance’ makes me even more scared.

Nobody even claims “liberal” anymore—it is progressive/tolerant/open-minded. In other words, co-opting the language (see: Homosexual>gay! how fun!).

Don’t mean to pick a fight, I do hope people mature—and I believe they can, but fools will always throw away logic for rationalization and come up with the most ridiculous new crap.

long day at work...
