Goose Creek - Two men are being held in the Berkeley County Detention Center after police find explosive making devices in their car. The quantity of explosive making materials in that vehicle is unclear. The FBI (website) reports that there is no known link to terrorism. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office believes that among materials in the car's trunk were a bomb and bomb making materials that include chemicals, fuses, and igniters.
The men 21-year-old Yousef Megahed and 24-year-old Ahmed Mohamed were pulled over Saturday evening during a routine traffic stop near Myers Road and Highway 176. Few details about the suspects are known at this time. They are believed to be students at a Florida college. They are of Middle Eastern descent and are not US citizens. Neither man has been charged, but charges are expected Monday. A press conference will be held in Berkeley County on Monday morning. Possession of unlawful explosives is among the potential charges. Officials are not at this time releasing any additional information. The Berkeley County Sheriff's office may confirm what exactly was found in that trunk during Monday's press conference.

This is always the case. Awhile back in Norman OK (just south of OKC) an OU student who had visited a local Muslim society frequently and had a Pakistani roommate blew himself up just outside of a packed football stadium—after being denied entrance because of his backpack. The roommate was found to have a one way ticket to a ME country. But it wasn’t terrorism. Nope, just one of those wacky kids from OU.
Remember, when Richard Reid tried to blow his plane up with explosives in his shoe, the very FIRST thing out of the officials mouths was that it “wasn’t terrorism.”
I guess it never is.
LMAO! They gotcha good.
If the FBI accused me of a crime I would use this case in court to show their disconnect!
In my book, Muslim college students with explosives in their car is a de facto link to terrorism. They don’t have to be carry an official Al Quada ID card to be terrorists.

” no known link to terrorism”
Excuse my bias and “hate crime” mentality, but to me, they’re Muslim, they’re terrorists.
How did they get into this country? Who let them in? Why?
How stupid or gutless do we have to be before we wake up and stop facilitating our own suicide.
Note to left wing congress and Dhim O Craps Rats, we have enemies, there are people out there who want to kill us all. Yoohoo, Congress, wake up! Get real, get a dose of reality.
Just a coupla college kids frolicking on our highways... scamps.... /sarc
Sound reason? Hardly. In what we like to call “reality” around here, it is well known that a terrorist is not always connected in a tangible way to known groups or organizations. A terrorist can commit an act of terrorism on his own, and the people are just as dead as if he’d had a direct line to Osama himself.
Thus, it makes no difference if there was a “known” connection. They were going to blow people up, with or without connections. That’s terrorism.
I for one am pleased to see that the sensitivity training the FBI received from CAIR is finally bearing fruit.

“The FBI (website) reports that there is no known link to terrorism.”.....Good God!...They think we are that stupid or we don’t need to know?....This is pathetic B.S.!
if you are a part of the mofaith,
its codified in the koran
that you do not have to be aligned with any particular group
other than islam
as the good book says.. infidels? whack them where you find them
hate literature...for sure
Are they Jundullahs?...
Al Qaeda has changed its tacticsparticularly for its operations in the Western world and other non-Islamic countries such as India.
2. Future operations will be carried out not by organisations such as Al Qaeda itself or by the member-organisations of the International Islamic Front (IIF) formed by it in 1998. They will be planned and carried out by Jundullahs (Soldiers of Allah), who are individual Muslims, self-motivated, self-trained through the Internet and deciding on their targets and actions autonomously without the need for a centralised command and control.

Is it possible that the FBI had these two under surveillance for a while and local police were tipped off to pull them over for a “routine traffic stop”?
Your juvenile insults notwithstanding, some (many?) people are able to make the obvious connection to terrorism when two factors are combined on US soil: 1) Muslim males of fighting age, 2) Explosives.
There are precious few alternative scenarios available to explain the presence of both in one vehicle.
Hint: We're at war.
I don't think FR is "slipping", I think most people in the US are tired of hearing that muslims who shoot up malls, jewish work places, blow themselves up outside of football stadiums and on and on, are NOT terrorists, so they are quick to jump in when they see an article once again claiming muslims caught with explosives have "no link" to terrorists. The point being made by most of them is that there need be no link to an organization in order for them to be terrorists.
The administration bends over backwards to keep any overt act on American soil from being labeled terrorism, this is, I think, so that Bush can keep claiming that no act of terrorism has been committed on American soil since 9-11. Kind of silly for the FBI to even state that there is no link to any terrorists group, these people obviously had mayhem on their minds and that makes them terrorists, however they will never be indentified as such because of the mind set of the administration on this issue, and this is what people are grousing about on this thread.
It is nice to have a clear head, it is also nice to face the facts now and then.
Phew!
Well, I feeeeeel better now.
Well stated. I have a lot of respect for those who refuse to play cow pasture frisbee with “official sources”—and frankly, I’m weary of those who do.
