JERUSALEM - An 8-year-old Israeli boy spent six hours floating in the Dead Sea alone at night after his father left him there by accident during a family trip, police said Sunday.
They said they would not press charges against the errant parent.
The Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth and one of Israels most popular tourist attractions, has an abnormally high salt concentration that allows swimmers to float on the surface.

You can't drown. The water is so dense in the Dead Sea you couldn't even if you wanted to. I know, because I've swam in the waters there myself.

My brother would spend big bucks to float for six hours.
As it is, a one hour "single float" session goes for something like 75 clams.
I think they're putting something addictive in the water in those places, he keeps trying to get me to "go for a float", no matter how much I laugh at him.
It's almost like the potheads back in school, always with the "wanna smoke a doober?"

Is his name Bob by any chance? Yes, and he's one lucky buoy.

six hours in the strong-smelling, corrosive water,
I couldn’t bring myself to even enter what looked like to me a fetid cesspool.

"...has an abnormally high salt concentration that allows swimmers to float on the surface."It doesn't "allow" swimmers to float on the surface, just try swimming under water or try sinking on purpose. I swam in the Great Salt Lake, which has a lower salt concentration than the Dead Sea.

I heard that the Dead Sea has all sorts of benefits for the skin. It helps those with Psoriasis, for example. I recently bought a facial cream that contained Dead Sea minerals. Good stuff!
