Goose Creek - Two men are being held in the Berkeley County Detention Center after police find explosive making devices in their car. There are conflicting reports as to the quantity of explosive making materials in that vehicle.
FBI (website) reports are saying that there is not believed to be a link to terrorism. The men 21-year-old Yousef Megahed and 24-year-old Ahmed Mohamed (seen in the video attachment) were pulled over Saturday evening during a routine traffic stop near Myers Road and Highway 176. Among the explosive devices found were igniters and fusers.
Few details about the suspects are known at this time. They are believed to be students at a Florida college. They are of Middle Eastern descent and are not US citizens. Neither man has been charged, but charges are expected Monday.
A press conference will be held in Berkeley County on Monday morning. Among the potential charges is possession of unlawful explosives.
Officials are not at this time releasing any additional information. Highway 176 in Goose Creek was shut down and has since reopened. Stay tuned to ABC News 4 and www.abcnews4.comfor details as they become available.
Now what time is that press conference? Be Vigilant everyone, please, and Be Prepared.
This is no-to-illegals signing off.
Monday, I think 11:30 am.
I looked and didn’t see a reference to a laptop?
There’s quite a few articles posted on the thread. One of them mentions a laptop. Not any one article seems to contain all the bits. The part about the student’s hometown, and state of origin is in a video report that someone had posted.
Because there was no link to terrorism!
I'm not going trying to jump down anyone's throat here, but sometimes is helps to take a breath and not believe everything that you read in the MSM's first (or sometimes final) draft. I thought we learned that lesson.
Thank you for the ping nicmarlo.
They showed the “mug” shots and both were grinning ear to ear as if it was a big joke! I wonder if they will like brig?
I’m surprised it hasn’t hit the news shows.
And if they have no information other than these numbskulls having igniters and fusers in the car, and being near a critical military facility? What then? Is it against the law to possess igniters and fusers? Is it against the law to drive on that road?
If that's all they've got, you want the FBI to publicly state that they're terrorists?
A case built on those two facts wouldn't even make it to court.
I'm not saying these guys are pure as the driven snow -- creating fear could be their idea of fun, like that group of Florida ME med students five years back, or it could be a case of intentional in-your-face provocation, like the flying Imams -- but if what the media is reporting are all the facts there are, for the FBI to call this terrorism, as it is defined in our laws, without any further facts, would, as you say, put their credibility in the crapper.
They are two Democrats using Muslim names so they can get in and out of Charleston safely.
No, you are correct. We must remember that next to actual terrorists, we must fear and deal with defense lawyers who in spite of protestations are part and parcel of the terrorist effort.
These lawyers are basically WOT parasites enriching themselves by defending the terrorists.
The FBI by saying anything, will provide fodder for the defense lawyers. Better to say very little or nothing than anything early on.

“too soon to know” is better than “they don’t think”
Yousef Megahed and Ahmed Mohamed
These guys arent terrorist? I say BS fried in pig fat.

Sounds like a couple of local farm boys to me, probably Scot-Irish ancestry. Of course I am looking for snow today in South Carolina. I don’t know why folks seem to think I am crazy.
No link to terror? Who does the FBI think they’re kidding?
I am too. I watched the news from an Augusta, GA TV station the evening that this happened and they made no mention.
Last night, on a different Augusta station that had the story with some video tape but not a lot of detail.
I’ve been looking for a story that covers the news conference that was supposed to happen this (Mon) morning. Haven’t found anything. Strange.
yw Cindy.
