Thanks!
Had no idea there was a debate today.
How about an FR poll: YouTube snots or George Stephanopoulos?
Thanks,worked ot today.
Get a conservative to moderate. Only Republicans vote in Republican primaries. Who cares what liberals think at this point in the campaign.
Paul is toast.
Who’s brilliant idea was it to run a debate at 10 am EDT Sunday?
Governor Tommy Thompson made the most sense on Iraq. He will not win the nomination but he just might make a doggone good VEEP.
George seems to be giving Ron Paul an unusual amount of speaking time. Tommy Thompson seems to have an unusual amount of neck skin.
I’m getting less impressed the more I listen.
I like Tom Tancredo. But, has anyone noticed: If you’re not watching the TV and just hear his voice, he sounds exactly like Dennis Kucinich; for real.
The more I listen, the more we need term limits.
Did George Stephanopolous get bad plastic surgery? His face looks squished!
Free elections in Iran...?steph is a dumbass.
Thanks. I was working this morning.
How do city, county, and state revenues figure in to the 23% Fair Tax?
Would they tax in addition to the 23% or get a portion of the 23% pie?
If the former, then the actual tax rate would be more like 30-33%.
This was a valuable opportunity to see and hear the candidates. Thompson went down in my estimation for taking the option of nuking of Mecca and Medina off the table. Every time Paul said neocon, I said fruitcake. McCain, Brownback, and Huckabee did not come up at all in my estimation, and my expectations were low. Romney and Hunter were good, but no better than expected. Tancredo and Giuliani went up in my estimation. Romney and Giuliani deserve special credit fot sticking up for President Bush and Vice President Cheney. They never refused to take Stephie’s bait to bash the current administration or its policies. Romney, Giuliani, and Hunter seem pretty solid, and immune to the pressures of the liberal press and other socialists.
Only Dr and candidate on stage not asked about health care.
Voted Tax-payers best friend every year but doesn’t get to answer questions about Taxes.
That’s like excluding McCain only on a question dealing with the military.
Hey folks. I listened to most of it using the tv receiver on a portable radio while taking a long walk. A few observations:
- Regarding Tancredo comment saying there were other people in the room. It wasn’t his best moment. Steffie was trying to follow threads of discussion to some coherence as well as give everybody essentially equal time. Tancredo was whiny.
- Ron Paul did have some very loud supporters present - including some very anti-war Iowans. So what? There was broad and sustained noise for comments by other candidates.
- Steffie could be accused of asking one candidate to attack another. But what he really did several times was to ask a candidate to respond when he noted that a difference exists. At least once he asked two candidates who had appeared to show a difference to debate for a short time. This was supposed to be a debate after all.
In summary, many of you are quite properly noting that George Stephanopolis did not ask the questions you wanted him to ask in the way you wanted him to ask them. But please ask yourself this: Wasn’t his performance a damn site better than the amateurish/junior high intellect/national enquirer gotcha hose job of Chris Matthews? I believe Steffie showed control of the process and respect for the participants. That’s what a debate moderator is supposed to do.
Oh, btw. Some of you thought also that ABC had forced the pubbies into a Sunday a.m. nobody watching slot. In two weeks they do exactly the same thing for the demmies.
Other than Tancredo mentioning the illegal immigration problems related to health care when the health care question was asked, the illegal immigration issue wasn’t brought up at all during the debate, and this continues to be one of the most important issues that truly needs to be discussed further.
