Mitt unplugged
Politico ^ | August 04, 2007 | Jonathan Martin

Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion about his Mormon faith with a prominent Des Moines talk show host off the air on Thursday morning. The contentious back-and-forth between Romney and WHO's Jan Mickelson began on the air (video link courtesy Breitbart.tv) when the former governor appeared on the popular program that has become a regular stop for GOP presidential hopefuls. But the conversation spilled over to a commercial break and went on after the program ended, where a visibly annoyed Romney spoke in much greater detail about his church's doctrines than he is comfortable doing so in public.

The footage was captured by the station's in-studio camera and posted on its website. But Romney, who is careful to portray a sunny and upbeat public image, clearly did not know he was being recorded. The candidate reveals a private side that is at turns cutting, combative and sarcastic, but most of all agitated at being forced to defend what he and his church stand for.

Mickelson is a deceiver, Number One. My husband and I just watched the video together. He had not seen it. The radio guy was wrong and obnoxious and rude.

Furthermore, to those who actually take the time to watch the video in its entirety, the best Mitt line is to point out that a President Hillary Clinton would reek havoc on the U.S. if she were able to decide which U.S. Supreme Court decisions she would abide by and which ones she would throw out.

I like seeing Mitt Romney this way. He was all fired up. My kind of guy. He has the fire in the belly we need. The radio guy owes Mitt Romney an apology - especially since the radio was deceptive in taping Mitt and then airing it. But Mitt comes out on top, the bigger man, the better man.

Go, Mitt Romney!!

Mormons accusing the salamander letter to be a hoax is totally ironic since all of Mormonism is just that.

The seer stone. The toad. The golden plates—engraved by a pre-Columbian prophet-warrior named Mormon and his son Moroni. (who after death protected the buried plates as the angel Moroni) in about the year 400 CE. Reformed Egyptian. How the plates got to Palmira NY. How metal plates contained all the text in the book of mormon. The Kinderhook plates. The ancient inhabitants of the Americas engraved records on metal platesl however no such plates have ever been found except by Mormons. How strange!

The visions showing Joseph Smith the exact location of these plates. The second coming in Missouri. The Mormon massacre of settlers. Multiple wives. etc etc.

And Mormons sure know a hoax when you see one?

You’re OBSESSED. You may want to take a rest. Go lie down. Get a life. Stop repeating yourself...

There is no second chance after death (Hebrews 9:27)

Whoa, talk about a VERY loose translation. You’re not even close with a paraphrase.

Your tone doesn’t sound very loving. You may want to work on that.

I’m right on the money and you know it.

There’s more but I limited it to that.

I’ve had these cultist at my door and I challenge them. They’ll bring back their “elders” and they too leave defeated.

As for “tone” I don’t apologize nor do I see how facts show emotion. Mormonism is not Christian. Mormonism has a squeaky clean veneer but like any other cult heaven will not include them.

I don’t know about “the money,” but I know your “interpretation” is wrong.

I’ll let Christ decide my fate, not you.

“Again, the proposition was about the appropriate forum, not banning, “

No, it is very much about banning and censure to appease those who can’t defend the basic premise of their religion and by implication cannot defend the resulting moral chaos that will be drawn into the political sphere by that confusion.

But you can debate the number of angels on the head of a pin all you want, it’s a well known method of obfuscation. The evident fact is you are for censure and bannings and I am for open discussion a la Free Republic. This will be clearly seen in your response, where you will continue to take umbrage at my being able to express any religio-political views in this forum.

I saw the video,

Very telling when Mitt says that there are "Church Leaders" who are pro-choice and that you cannot be excommunicated for holding that position.

Nice! What is the doctrine of Abortion and the Mormon church?

I believe that there are many non-Mormons that know the Mormon doctrine better than most Mormons.

You set up the strawman that putting the religious debates here on FR in the forum set aside for them constitutes banning them. It does not, so your first argument fails.

Appealing for the thread to be moved to the religion forum is a much used tactic by the mormon apologists who know that the thread will be viewed by a much higher number in the news forum. Thus, effective censorship.

It also sets the thread up for stricter moderation which is often taken advantage of by the apologists in baiting others into making posts that either result in getting the thread locked down, pulled, or the banning of posters.

This tactic is often used when the apologists feel they are on the losing side in the debate.

How many Iowa voters, do you think, CARE enough about Romney specifically or this primary race in general this far out, to watch some 15-minute YouTube listen to a radio conversation about Mormonism and abortion?

I’d be willing to bet it’s a VERY tiny percentage.

Then, why would Mitt waste his time taking part in the conversation(s)?

Iowa voters a noted for their attention to the primaries.

This was a hoax and the perpetrator who also murdered to get gain has been in prison for a couple decades.

He was able to perpetuate the hoax on a supposed "prophet" of God.

Is your God so weak?

Repeating a lie over and over doesn't make it less of a lie. I have called for no banning or censure. I have merely called out your debating tactics as being logically flawed, and with conscious repetition, intentionally deceitful. This latest to me just proves the point, it being the fourth or fifth strawman offered so far. You are the one who asked that proof be shown. QED.

...to appease those who can’t defend the basic premise of their religion and by implication cannot defend the resulting moral chaos that will be drawn into the political sphere by that confusion.

So, what is the basic premise of your religion, FC? And what is the rest of that gobbledygook supposed to mean? That if you can't defend it, whatever it may be, moral chaos will be drawn into the political sphere via your confusion?

You gotta stop blowing your allowance on $5 words. I take "umbrage" at your "obfuscation" by logical fallacy, not your "religio-political views".

How can Joseph Smith have produced a “better” translation of the Bible since he was a a barely educated well digger who had no knowledge of the Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic that the origional scriptures were written in?

But I will grant you he did have fluency in Reformed Egyption...LOL

No, you won't 'let' Christ judge, He will perhaps let you and me live by imparting His life to us who are absolutely unworthy of His Holiness but who have been granted the unspeakable riches of by faith being born of the Spirit, His Spirit, into His family.

Mormonism makes Christianity seem a magic act, where men as 'priesthood' manipulate the Holy Spirit of God, mimicking the Jewish Temple ritual process without actually being in the Levitical Priesthood, perforoming Masonic rituals twsited just enough to seem original to Smithism. But since the entire cult of Mormonism is founded in heresies, this Mormonism priesthood is as useful as a hoe handle without a blade or an ornate wagon without wheels. We have an High Priest in the Heavenlies, Jesus Christ The Righteous who makes intercession alway for us with The Father. Mormonism knows not God so they cannot manipulate His Holy Spirit as they claim to do in their rituals. Man does not manipulate God regardless of verbal denial that they seek to while behaving as if they believe they can manipulate Him.

Because Mormonism does not know the truth of what Salvation is, Mormonism makes claims that to complete the salvation of an individual who lived prior to the advent of Joe Smith must have proxy baptism in a Mormon ritual. Satan's devilish tactic is always to outright deny the truth of God and immediately substitute a form of what was denied but fashioned not from God so it lacks the power thereof.

A successful cult fashions its rituals and doctrines close to God's truth but without the actual Truth at the center. How interesting must have been the expression on Eve's face the moment she bit into the forbidden fruit, anticipating some enlightenment while mentally challenging God's Truth that in that day she would surely die. How pursuasive of Satan, to dangle a form of enlightenment before her and make it seem so valuable that she would risk death to have it. Did she even know a difference in the state of spiritual death and physical death ... she had never seen physical death on display?

Was she believing God would kill her that day but the short trip in an enlightened state would be worth it to her arrogant, prideful heart?

Was she mentally repeating satan's lie that she would not surely die, trying to reassure herself as she rebelled against God's sovereignty?

Did she think her actions would transcend the Truth of God's verdict which she knew and satan even repeated but repeated twisted like Mormonism twists truths, to portray a lie as if equal to a hidden truth?

Choose ye this day, will you follow an elaborate lie dressed in finery and promulgated in beautiful man-made temples? Or will you allow His Holy Spirit to apply the Blood of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world so His Life may come into your dead spirit bringing Life and transformation by faithing in His work in you throughout the rest of your life?

He didn’t undertake his ‘better’ translation until he began taking Hebrew lessons from a teaching Jew. Then he sought to ‘rewrite the Bible from the Hebrew, adding thousands of words not in the Hebrew language on the pages he had. Mormonism claims he could add these words by the empowerment for knowledge through the seer stone(s) or magic spectacles. It is the same tactic for apologetics claimed where the Abraham text is magically fabricated from simple Egyptian funerary writing.

If it is true that the book of Mormon was written in 400 AD by an indian, that is proof positive that it is a work of PAGANISM. No idol worshiping indian can ever have produced a work of Godly Christianity, since no indian of that time and place had any knowledge of Judeo-Christian teachings. Since the LDS movement is based on a pagan authored text, it follows that the teachings are pagan.

Now if this text was from the mind of Joseph Smith and not translated from the golden plates, than the basis of Mormonism is fraudulence. Bible believing Christians resent that Mormons are co-opting OUR Jesus Christ to play a part of this blasphemous amalgam of the sacred and the pagan. Any presidential candidate who is a member of this is automatically disqualified in the minds of mainline Christians.
