Perhaps you missed it, but Wednesday was the 19th anniversary of Rush Limbaugh's radio show. Limbaugh was celebrating his ripe old age, in media years, in the same week that liberal blog fans were trekking to Chicago for the YearlyKos convention. Therein lies one of the most important stories in American politics.
Make no mistake: From the beginning, Limbaugh was a revolutionary figure. He befuddled Democrats and the journalistic establishment because he was an up-to-date throwback. The large audience he won on the right marked the return in the United States of openly partisan mass media, a 19th-century phenomenon that had all but disappeared in the late 20th century.
Limbaugh is not primarily about information, though he freely uses even those bits that come his way courtesy of dreaded "liberal" media sources. His goal is mobilization, and he has been extremely good at it. He spawned conservative imitators in media markets all over the nation and aroused a faithful band of Dittoheads who despise all things liberal and Democratic.

>>>>>Daily Kos is often described as liberal, but it is, more than anything, partisan. Its core assumption is that ideological conservatives made the Republican Party their vehicle and rallied in lock step against Democrats. The party of FDR and JFK needed to find the same discipline.<<<<<<
b.s.
talk about “lock step” and discipline—the democraps ALL voted against the impeachment of bill clinton,
yet the republicans are lone rangers.
Huh? He seems to go out of his way to avoid mobilization. An example was one time many years ago when a Dem congressman accused Rush of telling his listeners to call the congressman. Rush wasn't happy with being accused of that, so for one time he showed what happens when he does tell his listeners to do something. Bye, bye Capitol phone system...I think it melted that day.
So says the founder of dailycuss, the newspaper employee nods in agreement.
Yet, dailycuss is a mere five years old and has already for years been the darling of the left.
I'll take that kind of "suppression" any day of the week -- it beats being poor.
Question: Has Hollywood made anything like bigoted-"angry white male" movies compete with Time cover stories and the assertion that a certain talk show host's audience is that racist "angry white male?" "Falling Down" anyone?
Comparing Kos to Rush is like comparing Jesus to Hitler. Both moved a lot of people, but they were opposite in every way: Good v. evil.
Yep.
Rush had been pretty damn wise over the years how he uses that microphone. He knows why he is there, and what his role is, and that is why his audience is huge.
If a lib ever had that kind of audience, I guarantee they would piss it away with moonbat activism thinking they were some kind of god.
There are all kinds of anti-Bush blogs out there.
OReilly is right, Kos is vile and shouldn’t be supported by a serious Presidential candidate. After watching the CNN youtube debate, we know the Democrats don’t have any serious candidates.
As will "The Daily Kos"...
LOL!!
Personally, I think the guy who runs Daily KOS is brilliant. Like all elitist sociopaths, he found a way to separate the lunatic fringe from their hard earned pay.
He is the Michael Moore of the internet.
This guy doesn’t hate America. He is a capitalist through and through and his market is dumb schmucks who think he is some left wing ideologue.
Liberal journalists, especially males, love ALL Latin American men.
KKKos gets a hit if you accidentally click a link to it. For instance, I gave KKKos a “hit” when I double clicked on a link to KKKos over at Little Green Footballs.
I stayed long enough to hit the “close” button.
KKKos gets a lot of hits, sure - but they don’t have near the clout they think they do. Buckhead and Charles Johnson forced the “early retirement” of Dan Rather and the firing of a biased news producer.
Markos “Screw Them” Zuniga couldn’t even get an anti-Iraq War Senate candidate elected from one of the bluest states in the Union and lost handily to a pro-war Independent.
“Rise of KOS” my rosy Irish bum....
REALLY? I listen every day and I’ve NEVER heard Rush blame BJ Billy for the attacks - he has said that Clinton’s FAILURE to answer previous attacks emboldened al-Qaeda (which it did) and the Jamie Gorelick “Curtain” between the CIA and FBI caused a FAILURE of intelligence agencies to work in concert (which it did).
But Rush has blamed 19 Islamofacists and their cave-dwelling leader for the attacks.
Of course, BJ BILLY was very quick to blame Rush for Oklahoma City, but, what the hey...it’s BJ and Liberal Dumpkopf columnists LOOOOVE BJ Billy!
thank you....which makes Dodd’s blithering on O’really’s show really lame.
Actually, some sites register hitting the “refresh” key as a new “hit” — and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how KKKOS works. Charles Johnson at LGF might know - he’s the site that KKKOS hates the most, it seems.
Of course, we shouldn’t feel left out - don’t the DUmmies want OUR heads on a platter?
Ding! I've always thought that about Michael Moore. If I ever wanted to get really rich, I'd write a lefty book.
I think Dionne wrote this because he knows eventually Rush will respond to it, giving it more publicity than it would have had in its own vacuum.
Knowing Rush, he’ll laugh.
I’ll believe MarKKKos is as important as Rush when he has 40,000,000 subscribers, his own jet and a palatial retreat in Palm Beach.
MarKKKos has 100’s (WOW! Hundreds!) of smelly paranoiacs milling about a rented ballroom in Chicago, chowin’ down on Tofu.
And of course, you KNOW the RNC has to have some decent operatives in there getting footage of them pandering to the I LOVE TERRORISTS crowd, for use in the 2008 campaign.
That's like saying the house cat who caught the mouse is beating the Lion who just pulled down a Wilderbeast
E.J. don't like the BDS get to you
