OAKLAND -- There is a massive police presence at this hour in front of the Your Black Muslim Bakery in Oakland.
Television stations KPIX and KTVU report that Oakland and Fremont police are on the scene as well as S.W.A.T team negotiators and various high-ranking police officials.
The incident is happening along San Pablo Avenue in Oakland. A command center has been set up in Emeryville, but there are few other details at this hour.
The late Yusuf Bey was the founder of Your Black Muslim Bakery, famed for its bean and carrot pies and known as having an open door to struggling families.
Bey's reputation took a hit in later years as he defended himself against rape allegations in Alameda County.
Most of those charges were later dropped, and one was pending when he died.

I’ll have the 72 raisins bread...’
LOL!
I’m sure this was the model for the Clarence Williams III character in the brilliant movie, “I’m gonna get you, sucka”.
Hilarious.
What is the recipe for baking a Black Muslim?
Ask Mayor former Philadeplhia Mayor Wilson Goode.
My first thought...
I used to get their muffins at Whole Foods when I worked in Palo Alto years ago.
Pretty decent baked goods.

Akin to Chicago’s “Moo & Oink” meat market...
To clarify: Moo & Oink is not an NOI store-front.
You realize that the U.S. Black Muzzies are considered too wacky by the regular textbook ME muzzies?
