Fired clerk now conservative folk hero ( Bruno Kirchenwitz ) ( Free Republic mentioned )

In the past, if Bruno Kirchenwitz wanted to see his name in print or vent about U.S. immigration policy, he would write letters to local newspapers about "illegal hordes" and stemming "the tide that threatens our sovereignty."

Today, the former 7-Eleven clerk who was fired from his job after a shooting at the Basalt store has become a minor celebrity in local and regional media and a full-fledged poster child on conservative Internet Web sites dedicated to immigration reform.

"I'm kind of like the kid that's gotten a thousand presents for Christmas," he said of the recent media attention. "I've been on all kinds of radio shows. And the Washington Post called for crying out loud."

He's been prominently featured on the KHOW morning show in Denver with host Peter Boyles, who has produced a parody song to the tune of "Stairway to Heaven" called "The Legend and Story of Bruno Kirchenwitz" ...

He's scheduled to be on a radio show in Atlanta on Monday night and he's been hoping to get on the air with Rush Limbaugh. And his name and story is all over Web sites like Immigration Watchdog, Americans for Legal Immigration, Free Republic, New Nation News and American Renaissance News.

Denver talk-show host Peter Boyles has spent lots of air-time on the Kirchenwitz story and has called for a boycott of 7-Eleven, which is owned by what used to be called the Southland Corporation...

Colorado Congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo called in and told Kirchenwitz, "I think, my friend, you have a terrific lawsuit here and I hope you proceed with it."

Boyles and Kirchenwitz both harshly criticized Basalt Police Chief Ikeda ...

It always pains me when a long time rancher is run out of business. Many were homesteaded by working families who wanted to raise productive children and be good citizens. Many generations of effort went into taking care of the land so that the next generations could make a go of it.

When Ted Turner and friends succeed in closing the public lands to grazing, hunting, fishing, logging, mining, tie hacks...then the die is cast. It may take a while, but the family rancher and family farmer are dead.

Ted will buy cheaply at the bank foreclosure auction, then offer ‘sanctuary’ in his new lodge to his Hollywood elites at a high price...

Thanks for the link :

Should Bruno Kirchenwitz have been fired from the Basalt 7-Eleven?

Amazing for such a left wing town.

Last year I moved from Orlando, a city where 7-11s are so common that two stores ended up on the same intersection, when the company bought out a competitor. Now I’m in Lexington, KY, where there are no 7-11s at all. Instead we have Speedway, Thornton’s and Circle K. Does 7-11 control any companies in Kentucky?

Sometimes I just pop it in to watch that scene where he goes to buy the handcuffs. “Trail mix?!?” “I was making a joke.” Pee my pants funny.

Dunno. Someone above said that 7-11 spun off / got broken up and that there are only quasi-independent franchisees now.

Mary Woronov has been in some other, rather odd movies. check out “Night of the Comet” if ya get a chance (Valley girls v. zombies. Zombies lose since valley girls’ dad was a Green Beret!)

Wasn’t she also involved in music somehow, before this?

“involved in music somehow”
could be. I only know her from weird sci-fi movies.

There are two different 7 - 11 ‘s ?

I once had a neighborhood convenience store called "8-12", run by East Indians, in Philly I think it was. That's "one-upmanship" for ya.

Speaking of great hats, I wear my Dr. Laura Logo ("Homo's are deviants") hat if I'm going out to bars, I'm not sure of the neighborhood, and don't want to be bothered by trolling cornholers.

Works great. No one's ever said they were going to shoot me, but I was once threatened with a spanking.
