We had another .5 or .6 of rain yesterday. Of course, it had to hit right at PM rush hour. We were about 1/2 way home when we ran into rain.

Most people slowed to the speed limit in the high traffic areas. The idiots on 1431 - a very curvy road - were running 5 - 10 miles over the posted speeds.

Department of Military Readiness: Coast Guard

On this day in 1790, the U.S. Coast Guard was created by Congress, which authorized Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton to build a small fleet of ten cutters to protect the coast.
