"There is only so much you we liberals can take until we in fact had to leave the room for a while...after so much frustration of having to listen to what we listened to good news about what is going on in Iraq," Ms. Boyda explained to reporters later.

There. Fixed it.

As a sort of historian(well-read architect actually)I’ve been thinking about the iraq/WOT situation. Consider past wars : it starts out with one side with fire in their belly, the confederacy in the civil war say. Now there you had 2 different british developments, the industrial north and agrarian south(british industrial revolution transferred to the yankee north)and the confederacy as part of their world wide plantation system, with slave labor.

Thus the inevitable clash between John Henry with his hammer and the steam drill : human labor vs machine labor. Much like the naive mistakes we’ve made in iraq, the north had LOUSY generals in the beginning but overall strategic power in the long run : 3 times the railroad mileage, cannon factories, coal mines, a better fleet, etc.

The only chance the south had was an armed truce early on when they had the advantage, but pride and YEARS of conflict lost everything for them. They had no maturity or VISION, and where there is no VISION the people perish. Basically then they just wore out. If they had hung on for another 10+ years then they might have allied with germany(as an ally/colony)(Otto Von Bismarck)and WWI would have been fought on US soil as well as europe.

And german engineers, white overseers, black railroad laborers building their own railroad to southern california, a mason-dixon line-split north-south; then eventual secession of eastern-western confederacy into 2 countries(very different climates); then split between NE and NW union. Four different countries would now exist where the US is today. Thus you see the wisdom of Lincoln to stay the course, and make the most powerful nation in history 140 years later.

Again in WWI you see the same pattern : germany with fire in its belly aching for a FIGHT, finally becoming exhausted and surrendering. WWII, about the same story : a small country with limited resources but genius technocrats taking on much larger countries, sleeping giants so to speak. And like the old confederacy, not ready for a protracted war, running out of GAS at the end.

Korea : same thing : both sides get TIRED of the conflict : truce line. Vietnam : we let the liberal left win the propaganda war, sapping our own will to respond to aggression. Gulf war I : STOMPED saddam with overwhelming firepower. Gulf war II : STOMPED even harder, actual war over w/in a month, and the bastard eventually hung.

Common thread : you have the fire in the belly as we saw on 911 with the 19 air-terrorists, or in the confederacy, but they just aren’t capable of carrying on a strategic war that goes on and on, year after year after year. Sort of like a testosterone high, it doesn’t last(limited body chemical factory)and the instigator just tires out.

That’s how the littler roman soldiers beat the bigger and stronger gaullic warriors in france. Throw up fences, moats and let these big lummoxes go thru their FIGHT chemicals in their brains/bodies for several hours until they are POOPED, then wade in and finish them off.

GWB is following that same strategy(man is a determined PURSUIT hunter) : with the resources of a vast and rich nation(and relatively small military budget/volunteer army)just wait them out. Let them use up their limited resources until they are simply TIRED, worn out. Then go in and finish them off.

And that’s just what’s happening in iraq. After 25 years of saddam, his wars, thugs, poverty; and 5 years of war/al queda terror, the people are just TIRED of it all. That’s why they are turning in the thugs, the criminals; faith in a better life ahead is overcoming the fear that they try to surpress the people with.

It may look a little different than post WWII and the official de-nazification policy in germany, but the results are turning out about the same : young iraqis now, like the young germans in the late 1940s, are turning away from hatred/defection/destruction and to love/cooperation/constructive lives. The al sadr shia and defecting sunnis will be left in the dust. Nor will they let the iranians take them over.

So fellow FRer, it will be a long WOT but we’ve been proving that since the rev war of 230 years ago : stay the course until the enemy is just plain worn out, too POOPED to fight anymore; works every time...study history...

You make some very interesting and valid parallels. I’m in it until islam is no more... or at least no threat to us. It will take many years but we will win! We will beat their allies the dims also!

Movie : Pearl Harbor : dolittle to his 2 young heroes : victory belongs to those who believe in it the longest and the hardest. We’re going to believe, and we’re going to make america believe in it too.

Along with israel and a few europeans, the USA is the most dynamic, creative force in the world. We’re also the most efficient predators, saddam found that out the hard way. The commandments are : Love God, love your neighbor. That’s the way of cooperation(bose statistics)and creative things. If you chose to defect(fermi statistics), we’ll visit you with the GOLDEN RULE....

In the four years we have spent in the heart of the Middle East, we have lost 3,500 people. On one terrible morning in September 2001 over the course of 3 hours we lost that same number of innocent civilians. Great website. Thanks for the kudos. I only serve those who truly serve our country.

Pearl was a great movie. I watched another great movie last night... one that parallels what our world faces today. It was “300”... Three Hundred Spartans, facing the largest army ever assembled (read muzzie, head chopping, moon god worshiping, death cult of mo... the pedophile prophet of evil).. and were offered terms of surrender by 30 messengers from evil who carried with them, the severed heads of many conquered Kings (still wearing crowns). Being highly offended by this... the Spartan King Leonidas (from the lions) killed and threw the 30 messengers into a bottomless well. Spartans cared not for protocol if you threatened them.

The Spartan’s were ordered by their sages to honor a certain festival and to not proceed to War against the advancing evil (sound familiar). 300 BRAVE SPARTAN WARRIORS...including their King... against orders from their Senate... marched to Thermopolis and 300 Spartans killed legion upon legion of evildoers. The Spartan Senate conspired... planned to jail the king and his men should they survive and return (impeach and incarcerate)... as they had “broken the law”. All the while, 300 Spartans fought on mightily... while evil men conspired for power, their King and 300 of the best fought for Freedom, Liberty and Glory... until the Athenians (allied with the Spartans) had fled the battlefield in fear after 3 days and nights of constant killing.

In their last battle... facing insurmountable odds... surrounded on every side from above and below... facing the persian god/king... they spit in the face of evil... and fought and killed every muzzie slime they could... until they were eventually overrun and defeated.

One messenger was sent back to tell their tale, with the last order of their King being “REMEMBER US”. The Queen kills their traitorous harry reid and Sparta proceeds to gather their armies... all of Greece advanced on the hoard... facing the largest Army ever assembled to that date were 10,000 Spartan and 30,000 Greek WARRIORS.

Facing these WARRIORS of FREEDOM... the hoard was trembling in fear... for they knew what was coming. They had been massacred by only 300 Spartans... their best had be slain as if lambs led to slaughter... and here they faced 10,000 of these Warriors, along with 30,000 Greek Warriors... ALL pissed off and wanting persian blood... a force unlike any ever seen before.

We are today’s Spartans... and we will be the one’s that carry death once again to mo...

Treason and traitors have always been with us. I just want to know how many persians pieces of gold that pelosi and reid carry in their belts?

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, LIBERTY, GLORY and GOD!

And still remembered today at the Olympic games : the Marathon Runner. Yes, we’re today’s Spartans, this age’s Roman Empire, the world’s COP with our legions fighting far off, distant wars. Another movie : LAWRENCE OF ARABIA : 1917 : turkish warplanes bombing prince Faisal’s camp. Fast forward 80 years : US warplanes pinpoint bombing al queda camps in iraq. There is nothing new under the sun...

Thanks for the info. I don't think I can bring myself to watch a Democratic presidential debate. All it would do is raise my blood pressure.
