(Nebraska Rep) Lee Terry, Jackson go toe-to-toe on House floor (Care to step outside?)
Omaha World Herald ^ | August 2, 2007 | JOSEPH MORTON

WASHINGTON — Nebraska Rep. Lee Terry quickly conceded that his chances of winning a fistfight against Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. would be "zero."

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., demonstrates his martial arts prowess in a slide show on his campaign Web site. That assessment was almost put to the test Tuesday night when a heated exchange threatened to turn physical.

It started when Democrat Jackson said, during a contentious floor debate, that Republicans can't be trusted.

Republican Terry responded by telling Jackson to "shut up," then walked over to add that he had found the Illinois lawmaker's comment inappropriate.

Terry said Jackson let loose a profanity-filled tirade.

"I'm not going to turn with my tail between my legs," Terry said, "so I just stood there."

Then Jackson asked Terry if he'd care to step outside.

Jesse Jackson Jr.:

Dissin' his co-workers
Swearing at his co-worker
Asking his co-worker if he wants to step outside.

He represents a disfunctional culture which is hurting this great nation.

Just another hereditary Congressional seat, much like MO 1st District.

Dr. King would be so proud.

You know, the martial arts guys I knew in college always walked away from fights whenever possible and never instigated a conflict. That always made sense to me since they knew they had nothing to prove.

Not in this case, his daddy (fortunately) was never elected to office. Junior got the seat because his predecessor was convicted of statuatory rape.

Please stop referring to Jesse Jackson as "Rev". Neither he nor Al Sharpton have ever received a divinity degree from a theological institution. Jesse dropped out after one year and Al never even went to college. Al was "ordained" when he was 10 years old by a preacher in Washington DC. Giving the title "Rev" to either person is a disgrace, especially those who actually earned the title.

Yeah, I realized that as soon as I posted. Dee-De-Dee.
He would not, however have won anything without daddy’s celebrity.

Thus, I used “Revrend” instead of “Reverend”, with “rend” meaning “to tear” as in “rip” as in “rip off”..........

At least Democrat behavior is improving. Last time it was Pete Stark offering to fight Rep McInnis while using the gay slur "fruitcake". Tying a gay slur to an offer to fight was definitely Pete Stark advocating violence against gays.

Jesse Jr didn't use a gay slur, so it appears hae's only advocating violence against conservatives.

Opps...I missed the subtlety of it. Even so, I was doing it more for other readers, anyway.

If junior tries to bring this 'martial arts prowess' to a street fight he will might as well arrange the ambulance for himself ahead of time.

Not to mention that in California at least Black Belts must register as a “Deadly Weapon” They are always an Ambulance Chaser away from Finacial ruin.

Well, you know, this is an old tradition in the House.

I miss the part where Congressmen would knock each other to the ground and beat on each other with canes. Old guys even.

Nowadays, if you want to see that kind of action, you have to look to the Asian legislators. Tucker Carlson routinely has footage of their brawling. It's like young girls getting into a real snit, you see men hopping on chairs, a few slapped faces, everyone looking shocked and embarrassed. Pretty funny stuff.
