I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.
O’Reilly made the accusation, so the burden of proof is on him. Until he provides sourced quotations in context, it’s just a lot of loose talk, which would be nothing new for him. I once heard him hold forth in complete ignorance on what’s in the US Constitution. It was especially dumb since his guest was Ann Coulter. She did exactly what you would expect her to do.
If the posts were referring to articles, it appears Mr. O’Reilly has slandered the website.
Any lawyers out there that could shed light on course of action?
A lawsuit might force O’Reilly to retract his statements on the air.
What’s to stop another Ash or a lefty troll from posting their crap here?
It was nice seeing you on BOR. It’s fun to put a face to all these names on FR. I don’t know where he dug these up but he should be faced with it.
I hate black cherries.
***”poopy-pants head”***?????????????
LOL! I have absolutely no idea why but that one made me laugh out loud.
BOR - He’s smarmy. You could peruse any website and find bigoted or predjudicial statements.
Websites are a cross section of society, and we all know that bigotry exists in all of us in different forms. Why, I’ll be we could review some of BOR’s tapes and find some questionable material.
But if BOR is suggesting that FR fosters or encourages bigotry, he is dead wrong. I am proud of the majority on this site who have called out those who have made ignorant statements. Interesting that BOR has missed those posts.
Ping to #63. Any referrals?
Well here is one perfect example, taken completely out of context. See post 21.

There are also numerous references to an article that appeared in Asian Week called “Why I Hate Blacks” and a phrase within a column by Fred Reed in which he says “It’s not that I hate blacks....”
Using Google, I have found nothing so far representing FReepers personal sentiments that supports O’Reilly’s claim.
The ‘I hate blacks’ quote appears to refer to discussions of a column of that title that appeared in an Asian paper: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1793274/posts, among others.
So instead of ‘liar’, perhaps we can just say that he is intellectually dishonest, in an MSM kind of way.
He’s a liar. It’s ridiculous for him to claim all those things were posted today. I’ve been here almost nine years and haven’t seen those three particular comments in that entire time. Someone on DKOS probably accused us of it and BOR’s taking it as gospel. He’s as bad as Dan Rather. No credibility whatsoever.
Using google advanced search, I have found no user comments that he claims are on the site. And google advanced search usually brings up the archives.
You don't have to go further than the immigration threads to find 'hateful and unacceptable' posts.
Let it go.
LOL. BOR is so uninformed. Perhaps he is unaware that most people in society these days have a mixture of ethnic groups in their families. He's still living back in 'Current Affair' days.
Call his bluff...and offer to go on his program to prove it!
