I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.

Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.

As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.

I take it some people here didn’t even watch this segment.

Here’s the points I got:

1) FR has had really awful things posted on this site. And those things are removed.

2) Bill O acknowledges that this is done, that 99% of the people here are good, and that the posting are most of the times plants and trolls.

3) Bill O says that this site is nowhere near the Daily Kos.

4) Bill says FR should get a paid moderator.

The FR spokesman pretty much agreed with him.

So people are mad at Bill why? For bringing this up?

He called the Daily Kos the equal of the KKK not us.

IMO, O'Reilly, et al, would incrementally like to shut us down...and it's beginning.

Quite possible... At any rate, BORe and his cohorts are certainly aware of the growing numbers of those, like myself, who have said goodbye to entertainer/pundits interpreting the "news." The only game in town, for thinking folks, is Internet based with respect to tracking current events and their implications. All it takes is enough sense to sort through the information and do a little research.

The real action is on the Internet, not on the networks. BORe is aware that more and more people are turning to FR etc., and he doesn't like it. What an ego... I'll continue to ignore him and his ilk.

Van, the problem is the quotes he used to describe this site was all other folks took out of it. Two of those quotes seem to have come from past threads that were part of an article, column being discussed, not attrributed to individuals at FR.

Well, to start with Bill O is a liar. And, he’s a moron. He doesn’t understand economics or taxation and shoots his mouth off on those subjects constantly. He’s pro abortion, pro gay rights and has no idea what the First Amendment is all about. Having said that, he is honest enough to call out the Dems now and then and gives air time to some pretty deserving causes. If he’s wrong about the specific quotes (because they are way out of context as others have advanced), he should be bombarded with email until he retracts his statements, which I believe he will do. Let’s wait and see.

he associated FR with a known sewer of hate, KOS.. In order to appear fair, he attributed a few comments to the entire community which is not a fair and balanced approach. Just the implication of guilt is enough and he said that in a segment on the radio show in regards to Vick..
The left wing sites are based on hate and they derive joy from hate and they live to hate. Hate commentary is the rule at KOS and DU when it’s the exception at FR.

His researchers really dropped the ball on this one and I hope FR has a chance to respond.
