Hi Bill,
I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

What shocked me was that he held up a piece of paper full of typed messages, and said that he found ALL of them... racist, hate, etc., comments on Free Republic JUST TODAY!
Good job, and I think you’re right on! Certainly the bloviating will be left to Bill, as usual. Of course, he has to make attacks like this against conservatives so he can maintain his own idea of “objectivity.”
[ suspect that Bill was probably cathching heat from folks who claimed he was targeting left-wing hate sites, but ignoring right-wing hate sites. So he mistakenly picked us, to balance his coverage.]
I have been watching O’Reilly, and it was a lib who mentioned us first. I believe it was Lanny Davis. Each lib starts out by saying that they don’t defend Daily KOS, but that there is also right-wing hate, like Free Republic and Ann Coulter. Harold Ford is a frequent guest, and he’s singing the same song...seems like “talking points.”
Trouble is the moderators are so far apart on what you can say or not. Once recently I used the words that start with A and H (you know). I was reprimanded and could not post for about three days as punishment. Since than I have seen the words A$$ HXXX many many times and nothing happened to those people????? I don’t mind the rules but just make them the same for everyone.
Didn’t know kristinn was CEO here. I’d have been pinging him on #20 bond paper if I knew. :)
Well, don't get a swelled head over it.
I didn't even know that FR had a CEO. I also don't know how he came to be invited onto the BOR show, or how much he was told beforehand (about what was going to be on the show). I guess I'm out of the loop on a lot of what's going on :-(
Now you know why I no longer watch O’Reilly, and why he is a horse’s ass. Guests don’t speak on The O’Reilly Factor, they look into the camera while O’Reilly talks over them. The smart guest would bring signs and hold them up for the camera while O’Reilly runs off at the mouth, thus allowing the audience to understand that there is more than one side to the issue. Did you really think that O’Reilly would let kristinn talk? O’Reilly doesn’t let people talk when they agree with him.
The fact that he slammed thousands of conservatives as bigots and would not allow himself to be contradicted pretty much tells the O’Reilly tale. He’s all about ratings. If he happens to do damage to his own side, it means nothing to him.
As for the Daily Kos, did you really think anyone from there would show up on O’Reilly’s show? The best that O’Reilly will do is talk down to his guests like a frustrated parent. They’ve seen his show and they can see how he treats his own side. He won’t let them talk so why would they waste their time?
There's a co-ordinated campaign against O'Reilly and Fox News to smear them as haters. He should know better to smear people as haters.
But he wont say it to my face without being exposed as a pandering fool.
And if he doesn't respond with a) the facts, b) an apology, or c) both the facts and an apology, we'll all be able to say that he's "afraid and hiding under his desk."

Surprised it has not been mentioned here, 2-3 nights ago O’R had his own M. Malkin on the show, and I guess he expected her to go along w/him on his rant on hate speech/hate crimes, etc.
Her response to him was 180 out from his—in no uncertain terms she set him straight on her own point of view on “hate” being within the realm of thought crimes, and therefore lacking any validity at all, actually.
He attempted to back her down once or twice, but she only came on stronger each time. Again, I didn’t see the above exchange posted here—nor have I seen a transcript of it.
Previously, I had looked upon her as his primary, supernumerary stooge, during his frequent mini-vacations, etc.
Maybe I had the lady a bit wrong, huh?
Yes, I think so. Since she has now crossed him, maybe we won’t be seeing her around the factor as much.

I agree I’ve never seen any racist comments here that the poster wan’t ZAPped immediately.
O’Reilly is clueless except what goes on in his little castle. What say you Bill?
You won't have to look far to see the hate speech on the lefties sites. Even the MSM sites.
Bumpitttt.
being from N Texas, the state fair and the OU Texas games are life long memories
I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but...
Posted on 07/31/2007 8:35:37 PM PDT by Jim RobinsonI'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today.
I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.

True, because this website is most likely to be the most well known as far as conservitive websites goes, it not in the top 5 most well known websites.
