Message to Bill O'Reilly (From a Black Freeper)

Hi Bill,

I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

Very true. Free Republic is at a much higher standard than its liberal counterparts. If you showed someone two postings, one from FR and the other from DU, without telling them which website they were from, it would be obvious from where they originated just by reading the bad language, ideas, and grammar.

A clear example of this would be when news is posted about a known liberal having a terminal illness or dying. On FR you will see messages of condolences and prayer, with a few exceptions but like you said, those are always "called out". On DU I've seen countless examples of them being the opposite when a conservative dies by just reading PJ-Comix. The death of Ronald Reagan comes to mind. They trashed him pretty good. In contrast, when it was revealed that Elizabeth Edwards cancer had come back, there was lots of sympathy on FR.

Thanks for trying to get through to BOR. I’m afraid he is very reluctant to admit when he is wrong. BTW, the fact that you are Black (unbeknownst to me before now), just provides one more reason for this conservative, Southern White woman to admire you. It shows that you have the courage of your convictions and that you are in good company with the likes of Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams - two of the most brilliant men of any color in the United States.
