I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.
In case you didn’t see Kristinn Taylor interviewed on O’Reilly, the video is now up on the Fox News site.
Here’s the link and then just look for Kristinn Taylor's photo, then click on that.

Syncro, your link goes to this thread.
O'Really considers any criticism of him to be vile hate speech.

Actually, I do think my link goes to the Thread I posted with my You Tube Video.
My clip is much more fun!

Extreme night owl here...I’m watching the 4am repeat on BOR, already saw it at 11pm.
I think it’s important to note again that Harold Ford, Jr. is sitting in the studio at O’Reilly’s desk and as you said you only had audio through I guess an earpiece. It’s apparent also, as noted previously, that you did not have a copy of what he was reading from and/or waving around. I think you were blindsided big time not knowing what he was quoting from..and as stated by many others, he didn’t have a clue either what he was talking about, only what his staff most likely ‘dug up’.
I also hope that O’Reilly retracts his statement calling this site a hate site and states on air that the hateful quotes he mentioned were NOT from freepers but parts of articles posted on the site.
Proud Member of FreeRepublic since April 2004
As usual, you were an excellent spokesperson for FR -thanks for being willing to endure that hotseat treatment.
Bill O'Reilly slandered Free Republic, Jim Robinson, you, me, and all who are longtime members and newbies alike. (I had to reregister tonight because have new puter and did not remember my password and my old email address for when I first registered in 1998 does not work now..,..) I am a MFJ veteran and a Freeper since 1998 and would not have stayed here if this were a "hate" website.....having witnessed zillions of zotted posts, deleted comments, and banned posters. Our moderators and Jim Rob do an excellent job of keeping this site "policed" - with the help of thousands of Freepers who do report abuse whenever necessary.
We do not like liberals much here. I myself do hate quite a few things, concepts, philosophies, and events.....So does Bill O'Reilly to his credit. He hates the easy way sexual predators are treated by many courts in this land and has worked to get Jessica's law passed in many state houses. His program tonight had as its first part the horrendous home invasion, assault, murder in Connecticut - which happened because the Connecticut parole board let out two career criminals against the recommendations of the sentencing Judges. Another good cause that Mr. O'Reilly has taken up and another view of his hatred of such insane treatment of career criminals which led to this and many more horrible crimes. So in that way, as outrage against injustice and horror, Free Republic does have "hatred" expressed here. So does Bill O'Reilly.
But the kind of "hate" spewed out by the likes of Democrats Underground and Daily Kos ....... is NEVER permitted here. Ideas are discussed of course. But hate spewing filth is NOT ACCEPTED.
I want a retraction from BOR because his comments in public were viewed by millions and will be quoted by others and many will "hear" about this "VERDICT" about FR by the "conservative" Fox network guy O'Reilly.
Lanny Davis evidently spewed just that very thing night before last and he speaks for Hitlary.
Retract it BOR - what you did is one of those unjust outrages that you fight against so often!
This is utterly outrageous - when you look at that post it is obvious the phrase is not being asserted by the poster, who is merely citing what UBER-LEFTIST ROBERT MUGABE said. The poster is merely saying it’s not something to arrest someone over, which is supposed to be the standard freedom-of-speech position. Good heavens, liberals constantly defend the rights to free speech for totalitarian Nazis and communists. How dare BOR smear FR for one post that merely refers to what the LEFTIST Mugabe said.....
I just emailed O’Reilly and told him to RETRACT what he said!
Thank you for your kind comments.

“Actually, I think BOR is trying to look fair and balanced after his slam of the KOS Kids.”
Ever since he started going after Kos, I think he`s been getting a lot of flak for not going after right-wing sites with the same gusto. So you`re probably correct. But I`ve never seen anything in here that even approaches the daily, mass produced hatred that sites like Kos, HuffPo and DU puts out.
I can't make out the sidebar, so I can't reproduce that. But a search of recent threads showed this:

Cassidy is not publicly advocating another tax increase to fix the situation. He claims he is just trying to get the debate started. The size of the deficit could be a big problem for Governor Tim Kaine, who wants to spend money to start a Pre-K program.

Cut spending. The problem is the Democrats and the RINOs want to jack up taxes and spend, spend and spend.

Another way of looking at and thinking about budget deficits is to inquire why spending hasnt been reduced to help balance the budget - instead of raising taxes to balance the budget.

Goldstategop....your comments made the tube...even if you can’t see them. LOL! See post #777.
Thanks for the You Tube Video link. Thanks to Dr Zoo. Hooray kristinn! Great job under very difficult circumstances.
I thought Kristinn did a good job.
Kristinn clearly brought out the key point. He said, “It costs money, Bill.” (or something like that) Bill’s response showed that he did not know that Free Republic is a volunteer site. FR is totally FREE!
On the other hand, I’m pretty sure that “premium members” at O’Reilly’s site have to pay. It’s America, and he’s allowed to do that. But, I don’t believe that “paid free speech” is the same as “free speech.”
One recommendation I’d make for Kristinn is to smile a bit more when on TV. His voice is very friendly, and his attitude was clearly balanced and respectful. In America, though, the visual means of communicating that same thing is with a friendly face...i.e., smile. The other recommendation is to find a way to communicate through someone talking over top of you. The way I’ve seen this work best on shows like O’Reilly in the past is to ask the host directly: “Bill, can I say something? Bill can I respond?” Something like that.
But, the key information got out, and that only took his performance from an A- to a B+ is all. It was a good solid presentation.
I especially liked the point about someone signing up JUST to post awful things.
I have NEVER seen anything like “I hate blacks” on FR. And it was unfair of O’Reilly to pull out that one post from multiple thousands. There is no way that post would survive since the rule is “NO RACIST posts.” It’s just a matter of the mod finding it.
Having NEVER seen such a thing as that around here before, one has to wonder how it happened along at such a time.
