I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.

Between that issue and FOXSnoozes heart throb Rudy being pretty much persona non grata around these parts, I’d say they don’t have a lot of love in general for the forum.
As to BOR’s comments about moderation, we could moderate ourselves by posting reactions to people who show exceptionally poor taste. Or should people here believe in “live and let live”? (let jerks be jerks?) Or maybe we just give the standard liberal answer: if you don’t like it, just change the channel?
O’Reilly wanted to prove he is fair and balanced. He bullied the Freeper guy. Are there stupid comments on this website, of course when this many people vote, but overall, the people leaving messages are very polite.
I remember when Jerry Nadler, the commie congressman from NYC was admitted into a NY hospital for a stomach stapling proecedure. Many people commented how much they disliked his politics, but wished him well. Does anyone of DAily Kos wish Bush well, I think not !!
Might be a good idea to have your great great great grandkids keep a watch out and put a notice in the local paper.

And in some cases, it is worth leaving stupid but otherwise mildly disparaging remarks just as posted so that readers can make up their minds about the poster. An overly-moderated forum can provide too much cover for the borderline nut cases. Intelligent readers can separate out the wheat from the chaff.
I have been posting here since early 2001, and lurking for a lot longer than that. With very few exceptions, every racist thing I have ever read on this forum was either loudly condemned by other posters, or deleted by some excellent moderators.
Having said that, I refuse to go on any thread that even mentions homosexuality anymore, because of the obscene comments made on those threads. I also, was personally involved today in a conversation (or should I say I was appalled today by a response from a certain so called "Christian Conservative") about a certain candidates wife that was the most vile thing I had ever read in my life. This posters words "describing" the wife of the candidate was embarrassing, crude, and certainly juvenile. If BOR had read those on the air, I think we all would have been very embarrassed. And yes the thread still remains.

FReepers are by and large conservatives, and many have been critical of O’Reilly.......for the right reasons, of course. I think Bill just took a cheap shot to get even.
Not to mention that in virtually every thread at DUh (and Kos), at least half teh posts consist of variations on "All right-wingers should die" and the other half consist of people saying, "Shut up. People might catch on that we think this way."

Clean and simple, on Free Republic you can find the TRUTH, faster than most any other source.
There is a reason there was no list. Providing a list would not advance BORs agenda, as he well knows that the posts he mentioned either never existed, or more likely they were quickly removed by the mods for violating FR terms of service.
I watch BOR daily, generally like his show, but when he’s in spin mode (as he was with Kristin) he’s an insufferable bore. Yes Bill, we’re not dummies, we can recognize spin when it happens.

O’Reilly isn’t little, he’s six foot three, I think. He may be small minded at times, but he’s not little.
