I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.

Yep, It got the best of him.
I remember watching O'Reilly after 9/11 when he was going after the Red Cross because they intended to keep some of the 9/11 donations in their general fund rather than disbursing all of the donations to the families of the victims. The particular night I was watching, he had Kurt Russell on and was saying that there needed to be a new federal agency to keep an eye on chartiable organizations like the Red Cross. Russell was pretty good - he said that was a horrible idea and that the last thing we needed was another expansion of the federal gov't. O'Reilly the Smug looked at Russell like he was going to pat him on the head and said "Well then, if we don't have a federal agency to keep an eye on them, who job is it going to be watch them." Russell responded "You Bill. It's your job to keep an eye on them." O'Reilly was caught flat-footed by that answer - and I must say - a speechless O'Reilly is a beautiful sight to behold.
The only time I've seen posts like this, they were followed by hundreds of pictures of viking kitties slamming the DU infiltrator who posted it.. crap like that is not allowed on this site and it will get people banned in a heartbeat.
I take it by the interview, there is no way Bill will read my letter I wrote early today regarding Lanny Davis comparing us to KOS.

O’Reily read comments with no mention of TOS or when the occured, and I think kristinn did just fine.

The best way to deal with this would be to put up a large banner at the top of the home page that says, “Welcome to the Right Wing Hate Site!”
People disrupt the prayer thread with regularity. It is usually gone within 1 minute of hitting abuse. Not the place for debate or snide comments. F.R. is very good about getting rid of things which are over the line.
Since the spring cleaning effort at the end of April, the discourse on FR has improved, imo.

Since I go to News/Activism only, I have not seen comments like I heard O’Reilly mention!! Or they have already been deleted by the time I view.
I was dissappointed for O’Reilly’s attitude regarding what is done about such comments, he was not interested in hearing about the “report abuse” button or the banning that goes on.
As for the cottage industry O’Reilly suggested, I think we, Freepers, do very well with our own reporting.
Another example of ‘being responsible for our own actions’!!!
That said...... I do think this was about KOS and their ‘junk’ and will consider it a bump for FreeRepublic.com.

I have been a lurker here for a few years and have never seen any remarks like “I hate blacks” and “gays are dogs” so I was confused and wondered where they were getting their information from.
I think the admins do a great job here and it’s why I keep coming back.

I figured he'd recommend President Bush step in and appoint a commission to monitor FR. It seems that no matter what the issue, Bill O. thinks a commission is necessary.
Probably one of his staffers is a closet DUmmie or a KOSsack and just makes up stuff, as DUmmies are prone to do.
I haven't really watched FNC in a long time but didn't Brit Hume cite FR a couple of times in the Grapevine? Why would a real journalist like Brit Hume cite a right wing hate website?
I have a feeling FR is under attack by the globalists at FNC for its instrumental role in killing the globalist dream of NATU.
