AFA to Counter Boycott of Fox News Channel

The American Family Association (AFA) says it will counter the efforts of left-wing groups to boycott Fox News Channel.

Groups such as MoveOn.org, the Campaign for America’s Future and liberal blogs like DailyKos.com have called for a boycott of Fox News Channel. DailyKos says the network characterizes itself as a fair news network when it consistently favors a conservative point of view.

"Every advertiser the liberals want to target for a boycott, we will target to promote,” said AFA chairman Donald E. Wildmon. "I think we can do a better job than these groups when it comes to boycotting and buycotting,” he said.

"The liberal groups want to force Fox News Channel to put a liberal spin on their news. They are upset that Fox gives us fair and balanced news, something the liberals can’t stand,” Wildmon stated.

Boycotts don’t work except on a local level. Advertisers will spend their bucks to put their products in front of the most eyeballs. If there are not enough eyeballs on CNNBCBSABC, the Fox gets the money............

This really shouldn’t even be an issue if newscasts just stuck to the news instead of all of the “analysis” BS we are forced to hear. Also, does anyone else have to fight a retching reflex every time Elizabeth Vargas furrows her brow? How many times have you heard:

Bingo! FReepers who complain about Fox not being “conservative” enough don’t get it. The best scenario is to have Fox — or any news outlet — present balanced news coverage. Presenting BOTH sides means that conservatives will win 90 percent of the time. Becoming a conservative slanted news outlet means they have no credibility.

Now, if they would just do away with their obsession with celebrity coverage.

Let them waste their time boycotting. The fact is: People watch Fox News because it is a better product than the other networks. I know several libs who prefer Brit Hume over any of the other anchors. His show seems much more professional and insightful compared to say, Katie Couric’s.

Robert Greenwald (born August 28, 1945 in New York, New York) is an American film director, producer and political activist recently noted for his documentaries critical of Fox News and of the Bush Administration, as well as numerous award-winning television movies from the 1980s and 1990s.

Robert Greenwald is the director/producer of "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism," the 2004 documentary exposing the right-wing bias of Fox News.

Greenwald is also the executive producer of a trilogy of "Un" documentaries: 2002's "Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election," directed by Richard Ray Perez and Joan Sekler; 2003's "Uncovered: The Iraq War," directed by Greeenwald; and 2004's "Unconstitutional," directed by Nonny de la Pena, about the post-9/11 erosion of American civil liberties.

Greenwald also produced and directed the feature film "Steal This Movie," starring Vincent D'Onofrio as '60s radical Abbie Hoffman, as well as "Breaking Up," starring Russell Crowe and Salma Hayek.

Greenwald is also the founder of Brave New Films, a media company that has published additional documentary films such as :

He is a co-founder (with Mike Farrell) of "Artists United," a group of actors and others opposed to the war in Iraq, which continues to work toward publicizing progressive causes.

Robert Greenwald: ‘Fox News is an Example of What Happens When We Have Extreme Media Control’

The producer/director of the new documentary film “Outfoxed” says that Fox News Channel’s “consistent support” of the Republican party is an issue “critical to democracy.”

Greenwald, a longtime politically active independent filmmaker, says he was inspired to make the documentary after observing the key role the news media had played in President Bush’s “ability to convince us to go to war” with Iraq, and that Fox News Channel “was the leader of that.”

“Outfoxed” received financial backing from the activist organizations MoveOn.org and the Center for American Progress.

Time to set the record strait again. Fox News Isn't Bias in comparison to the other networks. This study shows that when comparing to the sentiments of the country and other networks, Fox really is right down the middle..

This study weighed in detail the amount of time the various networks spent on each side of an issue. This is a good reference for anyone.
