In June 1987, I was booked to appear as a guest on an ABC network talk radio program. The host that day was Tom Snyder. Ushered into the on air studio, I was immediately struck by Snyder's warm and friendly welcome...Tom Snyder was a major figure in television. After the societal upheavals of the 1960s Snyder was a different kind of media figure who heralded a new era, bridging the old black-and-white, teletype clattering in the background, Cronkite/Huntley/Brinkley style of TV presentation and the new, full color, hyper-confessional Oprah-esque world that would come to dominate the scene starting in the 1980s.

Thank you Tom Snyder for the introduction to Rush in 1990...back when only liberals ruled the talk shows..
I’ve always been a conservative...since back when it was not cool to be conservative...and only one or two conservatives got through to talk shows...so much for the Fairness Doctrine...
A caller to his radio show ranted about Rush...Tom added his speel and I thought “anyone that Snyder hates...I will love”
I hunted the airwaves for Rush, found him and conservative radio...
