Anybody watching OReily now? OReily says he'll point out and take to task any republicans going to right wing hate sites. Freerepublic was specifically mentioned.
I do agree that the Thompson and Hunter supporters get carried away, but to the point of hating.
Bravo! Since I have not watched BOR in a long time I too easily accepted the impression that he agreed with the vile Lanny Davis attacking FR. It is good to be set straight! I still think BOR tries too hard to be gentle to the Demagogues sometimes, as in his 2004 attack on the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (which is when I pretty much washed my TV remote of him). While he is not a serious conservative, he does as you note often take a more conservative/tradtional position than most/nearly all in the MSM. That’s the best we can hope for on TV!

All is not well in the lamestream media either, not by a long shot. You want hate? Pick up an AP story, al-Reuters or peruse the NY Slimes or Wash Post. You'll get a belly of it there. What about Hollywood and their special brand of hate? Yet O'Blowhard didn't mention them.
Perhaps Bill should remember the adage that reminds "when you point a finger at somebody, three fingers are pointing back at you".

I agree 200%, if I’m listening because my wife enjoys his TV show, every word out of my mouth, is “shutup Bill, We would like to hear the guest response”. Not a chance. He just loves to talk.
The point of this thread is that O'Reilly allowed Davis's nasty comment about the mindset of FReepers to go unchallenged
Am I supposed to conclude that Big Bill O'Reilly couldn't find 30 seconds in his one-hour show, to question the validity of Davis's comment?
My question is: Could either man survive a real forum, where folks discuss issues in depth like folks do on Free Republic?

it’s gotten almost to the point those threads are as contentious as the religious threads and I avoid those like the plague.
I know politics aren’t for the faint of heart but a little courtesy can go along way. After all, once the primaries are over and we have a candidate, we’re going to need to unite behind him and help get him elected.

I don’t think you are missing anything. I came here originally for the education into Constitutional, and conservative principles, and have been richly rewarded, but I’m like you, contention is not courtesy and my reason for being here becomes moot. One has to search a little harder for the educational content. While being able to filter the unpleasant stuff. Thanks for the educational comments.
It's unfortunate that Bill O-Reilly chooses to agree with Lanny Davis on this point. Mr Davis is not as reputable a person as some would like to think.
Mr. Davis was part of the very same administration that beleived in punishing those who would dare to try to blow the whistle on the Dems and their unethical and illegal activities. In fact I can tell you that if Mr. Davis had his way, all 80,000 of us FR members would either be in a jail cell or a mental health institution or both.
These people are not very honorable people, they are very ill-reputable and have an addiction to sex, money and power.
Regarding the IRS going after Kenneth Starr, Bill Clinton said this.
"I can do any G**d***ed thing I want. I'm President of the United States. I take care of my friends and I f*** with my enemies. That's the way it is. Anybody who doesn't like it can go take a hike".
This is the very same administration Lanny Davis was part of.
And, I can tell you that if the dems take both the White House and both houses of Congress all of us (Christians, Conservatives and Republicians) are going to end up in very serious peril.
Bill O'Reilly has done some things I agree with but I'm this one I'm afraid he's way off base. People like Lanny Davis are the reason I and millions of other people here at FR make it a point to not identify oursleves or where we live.

Thoughtful post, Chena. I don’t agree with O’Reilly on everything, but he and FOX have been a godsend at a time when the left has been hell-bent on destroying this country. What happened last night is more indicative of O’Reilly’s lack of experience with the Internet than anything else.
Someone mentioned that Sean Hannity said something about conservatives “eating their own.” O’Reilly is not a conservative, but he does respect the traditional values that most of us cherish.
When he talks about “hate sites,” he is not only referring to the vicious hate-mongering of the left vs the whacked-out white supremacists, he is also referring to the casual, me-first attitude that has allowed the traditional use of respectful language to deteriorate.
I’m on his side in that fight.

I dunno, I've seen some pretty nasty name calling such as liar. Maybe I equate calling someone a liar with hate because I hate being lied to. Tell me the truth and allow me to make my decision based upon reality, don't lie in order to save my feelings because then it's not what's real. So, what I perceive as 'hate' could be a difference in how I view the world.

This kind of ad hominem cheap shot adds nothing and is an example of gratuitous hate that was the subject of the show. It is off the subject and totally unnecessary. Maybe we do need to clean up our own act, some.
