...and don't wee on my thread! ;)
I thought I said Wii :-)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Talk about silly season.
Hearing #40-David Stremme is one of the candidates for the #8 seat at DEI. In the midst of all the buzz about who will take the #8 ride at Dale Earnhardt, Inc., since the merger with Ginn Racing, David Stremme has emerged as one of the frontrunners.(7-31-2007)
Thank you Jayski for the laugh and the bd present. I mean it could be true but duh they’ve been saying since day one it would be a TOP driver.
Stewart's 'BS' slip UPDATE 2 fined: yes #20-Tony Stewart said 'BS' in his post race interview on ESPN [Cable..not network], NO word when/if Stewart will be fined and/or penalized by NASCAR, in 2004, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was penalized for dropping the 'S' bomb on network [NBC] TV after winning and was fined $10k and 25 drivers/owners points. If penalized, it would be announced on Tuesday.(7-29-2007)
UPDATE 2: NASCAR announced that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Stewart, driver of the #20 Home Dept Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in the series points, with his total points reduced to 2,599. Stewart violated Section 12-4-A of the series rule book (actions detrimental to stock car racing) by using the inappropriate language. In addition, Stewarts car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalized 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction.(NASCAR PR)(7-31-2007)
Tony is one of my favorites, but I want him to be a class act.
Joe won’t put up with that kind of on air language.
25 grand is chump change to a winning driver. His mouth should be publicly washed out with lava soap.
That would make for a GREAT PR stunt!
Absolutely. Just give them the whole season - PLEASE, NASCAR!!!!
Thanks NYT, actually you’re not late....we celebrated last night but it’s today. :)
Ulterior motive.
“The curse spoiled ESPN’s return to NASCAR. Stewart is feuding with the network, which criticized him two weeks ago for saying he was going to drink a case of beer to celebrate his July 15 win in Chicago.”
Hope ya had a great day!
39? Again?
Our Pops on with Claire B today.
Claire talked to him and he said that he, Jr, Kelley, and the entire JR Motorsports team went and toured HMS yesterday for the first time. Rick, Marshall, Doug Douchart, and Ken Howze met with them and showed them everything. Tony Sr said he was floored by HMS. He said it was just unbelievable. He had to call Tony Jr as soon as he got home and tell him. He said the engineering capability and the pieces of equipment that they have their are just out of this world. He said there is no wonder that they are the best out there. That Rick has put his heart and soul into racing and making that place successful. He said you wouldn't believe how nice it was and how far advanced things were there. He also said Rick give them a key to the place to use anytime they wanted.
Jr was on Nascar Now, he said the two owners and Nascar are working on the #8 deal. If he can't have the 8 it has to have an 8 in it so it will probably be 81 IMO. But, I think she will deal with Hendrick as a peer and Nascar as the ruling body more fairly than with the red headed stepchild.
Yep exactly, we discussed that with the restaurant owner last night. :)
Oh, and you know what they say, right?
better you than me! lol
Again, it is my opinion that NASCAR and ESPN don't belong together. ESPN is an ultra-liberal sports' network, who, over the years, has made fun of NASCAR, it's drivers and the fans.
I know they have every Busch race this year, but how long is the contract for Nextel?
Happy Birthday! :-)
And thanks for the update on Jr, my fave!
Joe wont put up with that kind of on air language.
JMO, Tony is a class act. He is the only one in the class, mind you, and he certainly does have an act.
And I mean that in a good way. Tony is most assuredly on my, "Drivers I like" list. For two reasons....
1) He can drive, he loves to drive. 'Nuff said on that point.
B) The man says what is on his mind. There are not too many of those guys around, and there needs to be more! Tony may sometimes regret (maybe he doesn't?) what he says when the emotions are running high, but at least he is saying it!
I, for one, would rather have Tony talk the talk he does, and walk the walk he does, as opposed to being just another corporate sponsored robot...saying the same thing over and over...dull..dull..dull....boring!
Remember the IBM commercials from a few years back...all white shirts, black ties and pants....clones.
Tony is not afraid to be different, he is good at it, and I certainly do not want him to morph into a corporate robot. We would all lose, I think.
Your second comment....
Joe, "Tony, don't do that anymore!"
Tony, "Sure thing, boss, won't happen again!"
Joe, "Ok, next item on the agenda...."
Tony wins races....and Nascar Championships.
I think Joe will be "putting up" with Tony for awhile.
If you were Joe Gibbs, would you fire Tony Stewart because he said, "bullsh!t" ?
I'm going to guess that "No" would be your answer to that, at least I hope so.
I'm not saying that I think Tony is the "Nascar Bad guy or Black Hat" - as many media talking heads have suggested. Far from it. Tony has too much talent and intelligence to qualify for that title.
You ever wonder why Tony and Jimmy Spencer get along so well? I'm giggling now........
Tony needs to stay just the way he is, you may not like it but I think Nascar Nation needs Tony as he is. When you are that good, you have nothing to prove to anyone.
****DISCLAIMER**** The opinion expressed above is solely the author's opinion and is in no way affiliated with the bubba that run's this place. No attacks on other drivers or teams or team owners were stated or intended. Hopefully, your religious beliefs were not offended, either. They made me use the "!"
:)
Of course Joe won’t fire Tony for his use of BS. Joe Gibbs has been a personal friend of mine for over 50 years, he doesn’t like to lose points, and expects his people to reflect his values, and that means do not use potty language on the air.
