Well, um, Reagan liked commies before he was against them. Reagan was for abortion, before he was against it. Go figure.

Both are bald-faced lies.

What in Mitt’s flip-flopping history gives you the idea that he’ll apoint conservative judges?

Judicial Appointments

When asked to describe the type of justices he would appoint to the federal bench if elected President, Romney responded: Governor Romney: "I think the justices that President Bush has appointed are exactly spot-on. I think Justice Roberts and Justice Alito are exactly the kind of justices America needs. They’re people who believe that the Constitution is what they’re to follow, not what they’re to depart from; people who do not believe that legislation from the bench is the responsibility or authority of being on the bench. I respect legal scholars of all backgrounds, but those who are going to be on the bench, if I were lucky enough to appoint them, would be people who believe their job is to follow the law and follow the Constitution." (Romney on Judges: Follow Bush's Lead, RedState Blog, Feb. 2, 2007)

~”With the scare Chief Justice Roberts’ seizure gave us today...”~

Out of curiosity, I popped on to DU to see what they were saying about Roberts given this incident. It was just amazing how personal and hateful many on the left are. It was more than isolated comments; it was general consensus among DU’ers, with people saying things like “The hex is working!” and “I hope the ——er chokes and dies!”

A fascinating bit of insight, for sure.

~”The only two positive aspects of Bush’s legacy have been his Supreme Court picks.”~

I still fully support him in the WOT, particularly in Iraq.

On domestic policy, he’s disillusioned us; but in national security, I remain convinced that his legacy, if we’re successful in Iraq, will be historic in its long-term benefits.

People do change, though I doubt Reagan was ever for communists. I have changed my mind about certain political issues and candidates. When a person does make a change for the better, I say good for them. We should support that instead rejecting them for a view they no longer hold. Several notable conservatives at one time support the left.

Several people commented what a positive impression Romney's sons left on Greta's show - I didn't see it. But I'm sure it is vast improvement over Kerry's daughters or Gore's son. This is not to mean that I always hold the parents responsible for their children. I am sure Reagan

~”Romney’s healthcare plan, while not perfect, is something that conservatives can, and IMHO should support.”~

I disagree. In any case, Romney has no plan to push such a program at the national level. He says it’s a solution designed particularly to solve Massachusetts needs; he doesn’t support it as part of his presidential platform.

Well, thanks for asking.

First, I do not agree with your premise.

Second, I trust and admire the people who trust him.

I don't believe he has a flip-flopping "history." If you check his campaign platform way back in 1994 when he ran against Kennedy for the senate his platform supported 23 out of 24 conservative positions (the chart has been posted several times). He still supports all those positions today.
See Campaign Platform in 1994 here (scroll down near bottom).

When he ran for governor he also supported a majority of conservative positions, but promised to keep the status quo when it comes to abortion. This makes some sense given a constituency that was 75% pro-choice at the time. However, this also meant that he held the line against expanding the right to abortion as well. While governor, whenever any life issues came before him he came down on the side of life. Romney's Conservative Record

Also, he has long espoused the virtues of shrinking government, individual rights and conservative values and surrounds himself with other people who believe in those things too. The people with whom he has surrounded himself are no lightweights either and they know him better than we do and they trust him to appoint conservative, strict constructionist judges. People like James Bopp, Jr., a nationally known pro-life advocate, Wendy Long, former clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas and a constitutionional law expert, and Sen Jim DeMint (R-SC), among others, trust Mitt Romney to appoint conservative judges.
Romney's Position on Judges

You can judge a lot about a man's character and intelligence by looking at the men and women he has supporting him. Birds of a feather....

Several people commented what a positive impression Romney's sons left on Greta's show

Yes, they were very good. They seemed incredibly sincere and comfortable. You can tell that they are genuine in talking about how important family is to them. It so refreshing to see a presidential candidate who has had a long and healthy relationship with his wife and has a loving, functional family. For voters who are looking for a candidate that will help strengthen the American family and make it a serious priority -- Mitt is it.

Also, one couldn't help but notice how much the boys admire and respect their dad and that they are a family committed to seeing their father in the White House because they truly believe he can bring positive change and make a difference.

You can see the video of it, plus extra footage, on Greta's On the Record section of FoxNews.com and they also discuss it on the Romney Bros. blog and YouTube.

She contends that Romney is "the constitutionalist" in the race, meaning he best understands and supports concepts of federalism and the commitment to originalism in interpreting the Constitution.

ROFL...

Regarding Romney-care, I still have yet to hear the first person explain how forcing doctors and nurses to render services free of charge by mandate of the federal government is any more federalist and any less socialistic.

And that’s what’s happening now. The free-loaders are refusing to pay a single dime, and the costs are being passed on to healthcare providers and those who *actually* pay their medical bills and *actually* buy insurance.

Heaven forbid that individuals should be held accountable for paying their bills for services they received. Under Romney’s plan, you’re not even required to buy a healthcare plan—just show that you have enough money to pay for medical treatment in case of a (mild) emergency.

It seems a lot of people here are perfectly happy with a government that uses government mandate to demands its citizens to work without compensation and a system where the costs are just passed on to more responsible individuals. Sounds like socialistic tyranny to me.

Saw 3 of his sons on Greta VanSustern last evening.

I have to admit, they are a good looking, bright family.

Very impressive family.

When Reagan was Gov. of CA, he signed the most liberal abortion rights bill in the country. It was before Roe v Wade.

Look it up.

Mitt is starting to look better and better every day. I’ve been rethinking my initial assessment of him, and might come around to support him.

It's a good judge of man's character to see the kind of success he can have in raising a family.

Lies by omission.

The bill Reagan signed only provided for abortion in the case of rape, incest or the health of the mother. That does not make Reagan for abortion at the time.

You missed the part where it said “the physical or mental health of the mother”. That’s where the door opens.
