IT'S said that a "picture is worth a thousand words." For more than 25 years, conservative writers have been telling anyone who would listen that our higher education system was broken - that indoctrination was trumping education and our kids were throwing away their tuition dollars propping up vicious relics of the '60s and supporting universities that were increasingly repressive. These words, coming from such luminaries as Allan Bloom, Dinesh D'Souza, Alan Charles Kors and David Horowitz, persuaded much of the conservative chattering class that something was wrong. But mainstream Americans seemed unconcerned, with their own (often fond) college memories drowning out even the most eloquent cries for reform.
Enter Ward Churchill. One could not paint a more perfect picture of a spiteful, out-of-control leftist academic. Certainly his words were shocking - comparing the civilian victims of 9/11 to a Nazi leader was not only shockingly vicious, it was shockingly stupid.
But if the case were a matter of words only, we would've already forgotten his name. Who, after all, remembers the Columbia professor who called for a "million Mogadishus?" Or the University of New Mexico professor who said, "Anybody who can blow up the Pentagon gets my vote?" Or the Xavier University professor who called an Air Force Academy cadet a "disgrace" and condemned his "aggressive baby-killing tactics?" For in Churchill's case, there was much more at stake.
The more we learned about Ward Churchill, the greater the disbelief.

If he were Japanese, he’d have hibachi’d himself already. As A leftist, anti-American...he’ll live till he’s 100+, pity.
Awesome line.
Churchill was a true charlatan. What a sorry situation. Pretty poor commentary on the competence of the university persons who gave him his tenured, elevated position. Doesn’t anyone check these fakes out?
Wonder why you never see this little tidbit alongside the leftist's rants?
” That will be Ward Churchill’s lasting legacy. He was the tipping point.”
Famous last words, AKA enumerating unhatched chickens.
Amazing how fast and how far you can progress in the liberal world based on what liberal notions you believe - and not based on your merits...reminds me of the communists.
Several years ago there was a study, IIRC, that said that at CU-Boulder 98% of the Profs checked Democrat when polled. This was out of 100 Profs. Turned out that one of the two that checked Republican was really just joking. We need much more diversity of teachers at the University level!
Churchill kept his job because he said he was an Indian, and no one wanted to “criticize” a poor downtrodded Indian — that trumped everything even when it was shown to be totally untrue. When real Indians complained about this liar, Churchill arrogantly dismissed them all saying that there never would have been an Ethnic Studies program at Colorado U if it weren’t for him — more documentation of racism & white supremacy from a Leftie. When Churchill was exposed for his plagiarism and other academic misconduct, that could not be ignored. He is a hard-core Leftist who hates his country. I am watching to see which college picks him up. Too bad for Churchill that Antioch finally closed its doors due to a lack of interest.
If he can't find work in academia, he would certainly be employable by CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, or anywhere in the written media where political orientation trumps talent.
Now only if they could master that bit about purging themselves.
“In a recent Zogby poll, 58 percent of Americans reported that they now believe that political bias of professors is a “serious problem.””
So how long before the universities themselves do something about it?
*crickets*
This is one small step for man, but not a giant step for mankind. It’s not a turning point, in my opinion. Now, if the Gang of 88 at Duke University were drummed out of academia, that would be a turning point.
You are missing the point.
In order to serve "diversity", i.e., making white people believe that they did NOT create civilization and spread it to the rest of the earth, fakes are as good as the real thing.
In fact, since the real thing is exceedingly rare, and all of them are at Harvard, what can the CU-Boulders of the world have except fakes?
Get with the program.
I seriously question his Masters degree in communications, quite likely it was plagarized in some way also.
In my opinion the guy is also very dangerous.........
Antioch (Yellow Springs, Ohio) just closed.
He was extremely aggressive and even abusive. He got in anybody’s face who disputed him. He shouted and even hit.
He had only one response to any criticism or demand for clarification -— attack.
Sometimes I think that’s why he lasted so long.
I think it is really possible that the academic can’t-we-all-get-along crowd were frightened of him.
