Those teenage girls with the flip-flops when they met the President was pathetic. I agree with all these bans except maybe sneakers as there is a LOT of walking to do in DC.

hmm let’s see, the sob can’t close the border but he’s going to tell me what I can wear before I visit a house my taxes pay to help maintain?
Bush, you just get more idiotic each day.

Agree 100% with the new policy. It’s not the Clinton WH anymore. This is the highest office in the **WORLD**, not your favorite theme park, and you better show some respect for it.
To: Santa Fe_Conservative
People have been complaining about the outfits some of the visitors wear at the WH. Even those receiving awards from the President are often in flipflops, tight and low cut blouses. A little respect for the people's White House is not a bad thing. Here's an example of good taste from the Young Farmers of America in the picture below:

The White House isn’t a ride at Disneyland. If you want to visit, show a minimum of respect.

Henceforth, business attire for both men and women should be mandatory

I agree with a dress code.
The White House and the capital are not Disneyland or the county fair, even though they are often defiled by the occupants, as in the stained blue dress and the normal day
of Reid and Paluzie.
American culture is going down the tubes, and it is why I may never return to live there. I can’t take too many gum chomping flip floppers.
I was very pleased to have had the opportunity to visit, along with my young daughter, both institutions back inthe mid 80s. It was humbling to be in both places.
I would advocate coat and tie, at least a jacket.

But, but, but, I thought the White House was the People’s House....

It’s a shame rules have to made to govern the dress of WH visitors but if people can’t dress appropriately when visiting this national treasure then I support those rules.

You know, hallowed halls, respect for American history, awe that you walk where so much was decided in the distant past, the meaning of the Star Spangled Banner, and all that stuff.
As Americans, we have lost our dignity. It shows in how we present ourselves. Lets clean up our act, revert to time honored decorum. At least while in the greatest house in America, for heaven’s sake.

There are documented stories of President Andrew Jackson cheerfully welcoming frontiersmen and Indians in their everyday frontier clothing.
We elect a President from among our people.
The White House is not Buckingham Palace.
This is more evidence of an Imperial presidency far above mere mortals who must pay tribute (high taxes) and bow before the monarch.

Can't wear jeans and visit the white house? That's idiotic.
This administration has the most inept PR department of any in recent memory.

Reminds me of how Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton showed respect for the Oval Office as an institution.
Ronald Reagan always wore his suit jacket and tie while in the Oval Office.
Bill Clinton — well, we all know — no need to get nasty on Sunday.
