Amen. Amen. Amen.
Even if not a tie and jacket, at the very least you should be required to wear a shirt (not Ts), pants (no denim) and shoes (no sneakers). I have visited the House many times as a tourist and I cringe each time I see women wearing skimpy shorts, tank tops/bras and flip flops, who wouldn't know the first thing about government (women otherwise I would love to see in the same attire but in a different surrounding).
The WH is not a GD'ed Six Flags Over America (at least when the GOP is in office). Nobody is stopping you from visiting, but when you do, please show it the respect it deserves.

And I too agree to that statement. :) I was just pointing out how this type of thing points out IMO that our society had degraded when it comes to respect.

...and just because you are paying taxes does not mean you can walk in naked.

I enjoy Bush style social decorum.
Oh No! Flip-flops...

Ah Yes! Bush style social decorum
at the good old US-Mexican board.

Bush has lost his mind.
President Bush tells the Dalai Lama
No Flip-Flops.
Dalai Lama apologies and asks
Bush to forgive him for not
getting the social decorum e-mail.

Thank you :)
When I was a young kid in the 50s, we dressed up just to go down on Main Street in Memphis.
Culture in America has hit an all time low, and sinking faster each day.

Am I on the list? Under certain circumstances, yes.

Just don't visit the White House if you don't like the dress code, I guess. THIS is the point: First, you don't go to the WH. Then, when they tell you you can't, I don't know...say, have kids (of fill in your own currently acceptable behavior), what are you gonna do? Because by that time, the power of the government is going to be so strong, you won't have the option.

We stayed 20 miles out of D.C. We had 4 children and 4 adults.
Where were we supposed to change? Were we supposed to carry bags of clothes on the sightseeing bus all day?

I totally agree. These people sound like CHILDREN here. Unbelievable.

I find that a lightweight pair of pants with stretch with a simple strect t-shirt is far more comfortable than jeans. It’s not that difficult to find something appropriate that’s comfortable.

Good post! There seem to be a sad lacking of people with class anymore. Makes me shudder to think about how they will vote!

The Dalai Lama is in social dress for his status and culture.
Stop comparing apples to oranges.

A rule isn’t a request.
Laugh Out Loud if that makes you feel superior, but frankly it makes you look ridiculous.
