Just don't visit the White House if you don't like the dress code, I guess. THIS is the point: First, you don't go to the WH. Then, when they tell you you can't, I don't know...say, have kids (of fill in your own currently acceptable behavior), what are you gonna do? Because by that time, the power of the government is going to be so strong, you won't have the option.

I'm generally in agreement with your philosophical principles on excess goverment. It feels like a silly application here though. In your mind, is walking through the whitehouse nude ok? A bathing suit? Slippery slopes can go either direction from the apex!
I will grant the White House the right to establish a dress code, for the White House. Does that then set a precedent for dress codes elsewhere, like government schools? Government highways? That would start us down a slope I guess. I don't know.
The slippery slope is a valid concern, even if invalid as a premise to a logical conclusion. Slippery slopes, applied too liberally, can look silly. Hence, my original thought that your comment was a parody.
