Gingrich predicts Clinton-Obama ticket

Democrats will nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton for president in 2008 and Barack Obama will be her running mate, former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicts.

The GOP will have three "formidable" choices in Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson, said Gingrich, who is considering whether to get into the race.

Gingrich is ruling out John McCain's chances among the Republican contenders.

The Arizona senator "has taken positions so deeply at odds with his party's base that I don't see how he can get the nomination," Gingrich said Sunday in a broadcast interview.

Gingrich said he had dinner recently with Thompson, the former Tennessee senator and actor who has set up a political committee that allows him to raise money for a presidential bid. An official launch is likely in September, after the Labor Day holiday.

Gingrich said he expects Thompson will enter what is shaping up as a competitive race for the GOP nomination against Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, and Giuliani, a former New York City mayor.

"I think that either Mayor Giuliani or Governor Romney or Senator Thompson would be a very formidable opponent for what I expect will be a Clinton-Obama ticket, and I think that there's a possibility that will work," Gingrich said.

Is Newt aware that Hillary and Obama have been taking pot shots at each other all week?

“pygmies” one day, “very formidable” the next. I’m confused.

“Wrong again Newt...”

It is Clinton/Richardson. It was decided back in 1992.

Sadly, the Presidential Race of 2008 will end up in a race of Worse v. Worser.

Just think how sad things will be when these 2 red SOB's are sworn in.

The American populace voted algore over Bush in 2000 and Jon Queri came close in 2004.

Can't dodge the bullet forever, the people will get what they deserve.

Out of all the names in this article I believe Gingrich would make the best President. I doubt he would ever be elected to the White House because most Americans don’t have a clue what makes a good politician\statesman.

I'm a big newt fan. He's one of the freshest thinkers in politics--even 13 years later. But he has way too much baggage. Do you really think America is ready to elect a guy who served his wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital? With cancer?

Never. The only one hoping for that combo is Billy-boy so he can get a billion-dollar life insurance policy on his wife who might meet with an “accident” caused by some fanatic wishing to see the first black president (other than Bill, of course).

Exactly correct. Clinton / Richardson it will be. He is a Clintonista through and through. They must have someone they can control. It will bring in votes from the west. Clinton/Richardson is set. Obama is just keeping the Democratic interest groups interested....

So what....it's all a stage act, and then they will kiss and make up (hopefully not for Obama's sake), and show all the socialist/communist kool-aid drinking followers that they can dis-agree, yet work together. Oh how touching....and beautiful....

Romeny/Hunter. Anybody else remember the Mondale Ferrro ticket when the Dems went affirmative action and lost 49 states?

Think about this, if in fact Shillary and Obama are running mates, this would be the most far left Democratic ticket since Mondale/Ferraro.

And look what happened to them.

Well if he was a Democrap they might consider electing him.
Everybody knows Hillary stays with Billy boy in spite of his philandering for political reasons.Rudy Giuliani pulled a Newt in his last marriage,John Edwards is playing his wife’s cancer for all its worth in his run. Don’t get me wrong,I think Newt would be a great President, but I wouldn’t necessarily want him marrying my daughter !!!

LOL. I just don't think he's electable. Too much baggage that the Old Media will trot out over and over. And it's stuff that dems don't care about--heck, a lot of them want to euthanize cancer victims--but the Republican base does. If he can't turn out the base, a Republican can't be elected.

That's Rudy's problem too. Between his politics, the drag queen pix, and his personal life he's going to lose enough of the base to lose the election. It's not hurting him now because the drag queen pix are not being run 25/8 in Tenessee and Kentucky. But the Old Media will have them front and center, 25/8 there if he's the nominee.

I don’t see Hillary putting Obama on the ticket. There’s too much bad blood developing between them, and Hillary isn’t going to run with anyone that could outshine her or will be too ambitious. I think it’ll be Bill Richardson.
