District Attorney Berry told reporter Susan Goldsmith of the Oregonian that his department "aggressively" pursues sex crimes. "These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
No, sir. The only one devastating children's lives is you. If you "win," and these "criminals" are convicted, 20, 30 years from now applying for a job, volunteering for a community program, heading north for a weekend in Vancouver and watching the Customs guard swipe the driver's license through the computer there'll be a blip, something will come up on the screen, and for the umpteenth time two middle-age men will realize they bear a mark that can never be expunged. Because decades ago they patted their pals on the rear in a middle-school corridor.
A world that requires handcuffs and judges and district attorneys for what took place that Friday in February is not just a failed education system but an entire society that's losing any sense of proportion. Without which, civilized life becomes impossible. So we legalize more and more aspects of life and demand that district attorneys prosecute ever more aggressively what were once routine areas of social interaction.
A society that looses the state to criminalize schoolroom horseplay is guilty not only of punishing children as grown-ups but of the infantilization of the entire citizenry.

Last year, my wife was called in to the school.
The problem? My 9 yr old daughter had licked her fingers and chased the boys on the playground. Asked why, she replied, “I wanted to cause pandemonium, and I did.”
The school recommended psychiatric counseling. (One of the teachers, in private, told her, “Sounds like what I did when I was 9 years old.”) My wife decided on home schooling.
No sireee.
Any potentially gay-like behavior by male football players cannot be considered to be "sexual assault by butt slap".
“If Bush wanted to make a popular move and gain back some support, he should give these kids a pardon and invite them to the Whitehouse.”
Unfortunately neither is named Scooter Libby, it won’t happen.
We live in a world were children who bring a squirt gun to school are brought up on weapons charges
Some teacher saw it and decided it was sexual in nature. The boy got in trouble, and because my daughter did not protest and immediately report the "incident", she was prevented from attending graduation a couple of weeks later. This kind of school "justice" reminds me of the way Islam treats women who are raped. The mealy-mouthed administration said "there's nothing we can do".
What? That makes no sense. Voters do not establish guidelines; they only vote for representatives who in turn establish guidelines. And they only know that they've voted badly after the fact . . . and only if they're paying attention.
You know, my main concern the way things are going these days is that if you swat somebody on the butt, you might give them brain damage.
Don't get carried away!
>my son-in-law “looked at her chest<
By any chance was the girl wearing a blouse with writing or a picture on it?
Sounds like good clean fun! LOL Well, I went to an all boys high school so we had no bra straps to snap, though there were some of the guys that probably should have been wearing a bra, so we had to resort to other forms of "entertainment". We once took a really neerdy kid that was always turning people in to the higher-ups for supposed wrongs, and took him into the locker room and stripped him down, tied him up and put him on top of the lockers. We then went an ran his pants up the flag pole! Today, that would no doubt be a class A felony worth about 10 years to life. Back then we just all got detention for bringing dishonor to the school by running the pants up the flag pole which was located on a rather busy street.
10th grade algebra class for falling asleep in class. (your Honor, I plead mitigating circumstances. I get up at 4 am every morning to throw papers. Request denied!). The teacher was the Basketball coach - ouch!
12th grade Civics class - I failed to get a test paper signed by my Mom. I had made 100% on the test, but rules are rules. The teacher was the football line coach - double ouch!
“There were no psycho butts in Mayberry”
LoL
Don't know any details. She didn't show up for a formal interview about the subject.
But of course. More business for the tax paid "education" industry.
IN - EFFING - CREDIBLE!!!!!
The children were interviewed for several hours by a law officer and the school official, THEN READ THEIR MIRANDA RIGHTS. You have the reason right there for these charges to be dismissed. They were questioned without benefit of counsel. The cop being there will destroy the case for the DA!
The reason I asked is I have caught myself trying to read the text on a womans tshirt then realized it looked as if I was staring at her boobs.
“I disagree. The teachers, administrators, and even the prosecutor are performing their jobs within the guidelines established by the voting citizens of Oregon...A society that looses the state to criminalize schoolroom horseplay....”
That’s where common sense needs to take over. Just because a pack of godless unpatriotic pierced-nose Volvo-driving France-loving left-wing Communist latte-sucking tofu-chomping holistic-wacko neurotic vegan weenie perverts have enacted looney-toon laws is no justification for good men to cave in to them.
Whatever happened to the spirit of Walden, of civil disobedience? What ever happened to Henry, what are you doing in there? and, Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there? Whatever happened to standing up to tyranny and saying, “No!”?
